Guin's turning into a bully
He has been fighting more and more with the local cats, especially Mac (who lives behind our garden and is 3 times the size of Guin!). It's upsetting me and the other cats because Guin seems to be the ringleader.

Sometimes, they are joined in their fights by Tibby (Lyns other cat). The 3 of them fight with each other. I think I am going to start keeping Guin in at nightime again, at least this will stop some of the fighting. Just now during the day another neighbour threw water over them - she said that Guin and Mac were face to face in her garden wailing and screaming at each other....

I wish he wouldn't fight. I have watched him and he seems to do it on purpose. Considering he is still really small, he has some guts about him to take on these other boy cats!

*sigh*

Is he neutered? Anyway you can keep him indoors permanently? Sorry, but I don't know the history behind him. Over here, when the males start getting anxious and fighting it is usually kitten season and the spray of the tomcats and the females on the bushes on our property will set them right off (even if neutered).

He is neutered (since January last year).... There are another 5 male cats in the area, all look as though they are neutered. I have only ever seen 1 female cat in this area and she is a stray (I have been trying to befriend her as she needs spaying but so far, I can't get near her) and there is a stray male cat who is un-neutered.

Last summer, when Guin was first starting to go outside he rarely got into fights. It's really only been this past month that he is fighting constantly. Right now he won't come inside and is ignoring me. I think he is in a garden two doors up.

I don't think he will like being kept in permanently as I am out most days from 7.30am until 7pm... but def. at night time and when I am home I might just keep him in again like when he was small.

Thanks though.

hmm, I don't know if Feliway is available in your country, but I have used it in the past for aggressive males, just sprayed it on a cloth and wiped them down with it. It seems to calm them a bit-

I am going into town tomorrow so I might ask in the local pet centre - another thing, not sure if it makes a difference but there is one male cat that does spray - I have seen him do it..
I just found lots of it up my back door as well. It's strange because this cat, Pebbles is one of Guin's friends so I don't know why he would do it unless it's just plain old territory.... ? Would this make them all act up?

Thanks Susan, I will check out in the pet shop, if not I have to go to the vets anyway for some wormy tablets.... !

I kind of think that in a few months, this behavior may have calmed down anyway once Lyn moves with her 3 cats. At least my back doorway won't smell of cat wee

Yes, male cats spraying on the bushes, walls or whatever will set off other cats most of the time-
