My cat shes just over a year old, had her first litter last night (3)..
Shes been doing fine and is comfortable with me handeling the babies, however this evening i noticed strange behavior, she wont stop meowing at me..not in an agressive way but she seems to want comforting...Ill give her attention and she will continue meowing and begin to purr, she also looks distressed alot of the time when the kittens move, and iv seen her try and pick one up alot by the head.. she doesnt seem to want to move the kitten anywhere...
I just hope shes not being agressive, she seems confused.
I want to make her feel better but dont know how...

Any ideas?

Hey lolly...welcome to the site. Although I cannot answer your question....just keep coming back as Gaye (who is the moderator) will hopefully have a suggestion for you. In the meantime, please keep your cat indoors only and make sure to schedule her spay appt. for when her kittens are weaned. If you need a low cost clinic, just let me know what state you are in and I can provide a list for you.

Maybe she is just overwhelmed with what has happened, and with her hormones. If she wants a lot of affection and petting, go ahead and give it to her.

Gayef will be along soon with some good advice. While waiting check out the "sticky" threads at the top of the forum.

Congrats on 3 healthy babies. Post pics when you can!

This may or may not be the answer here, but a lot of first time, inexperienced queens don't know what to do with the babies so they want a little encouragement. If you can, try to keep your girl and the babies nearby you while home and encourage her to nurse and care for her kittens. Speak softly to her and praise her when she does, tell her what a good girl she is and how beautiful her babies are ... I know it sounds silly, but with some cats, it is what they want.

Hey all!
Just updating you guy's on Gracie (mum) and her babies! ^_^
They are all doing amazingly well and are happy in theyr new nest! The babies (all girls) are growing really fast!
We are going to keep one of the little girls, then get mum and her spayed when old enough!
