This was a big weekend for adoptions. We placed seven of the older kittens in great homes and all but one was a double adoption. As wonderful as it was to see them go to loving homes, I'm feeling a sense of loss this morning. Just got an email from our coordinator who said the same thing.
They were all in foster care at her place and I know she got used to see those sweet little faces every day. I'm especially going to miss a little male tabby who liked who rested his head on your shoulder while being held and the mischievious solid black brother and sister, who went to a home together.
Now we get a little break before starting again. There's another pregnant mom who we'll be fostering, along with two of her kittens from a previous litter I'm going to try to socialize, along with TNR at the usual sites. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting too involved with what my family has started calling "the cat thing," but I've realized this is something I need to do. It's alternately fun, rewarding, sad and frustrating. It's hard to see witness the ignorance and cruelty that result in so many homeless pets, but incredibly satisifying to see a feral kitten blossom into a purry fuzzball that brings joy to a family.
Anyway, thanks to all of you for listening (again) and for all you do!
