Movin' on up!
Opie and Rowdy were joint ventures. Bill and I got them together.

I "just happened" to drop by the Humane Society, one day and Buddy appealed to me. You might call him an impulse purchase. When Bill got home, I carried Buddy into the room and introduced him to Bill. Bill said, "Hi, Kittles", scratched Buddy's ears and that was that.

Just bring the cat home. What's the s/o going to do - throw the cat out into the street. This tactic worked, with my ex, too and HE'S a total jerk.

We even got the Pearlie-pup, that way. My son rescued her, from the desert and couldn't keep her. Guess who's house he brought her to? Bill played with her and said, "I can't say 'no' to the pup." Within three months, she had shots, was spayed and had a license.

I don't really know. On the one hand, a new pet is really a family member, so to just adopt a new family member if one spouse doesn't want it isn't really fair.

But most animal loving people have animal loving (or at least liking) significant others-so adding one tiny kitten, or one quiet cat isn't a big deal.

I took Sugartoes to a cat show Saturday, and not only was she not adopted, but I brought home 3 extra kittens!
But dh never even bats an eye. He is pretty firm about limiting the number of keeper cats in the house, though. I think he is afraid I will be a softy and end up with dozens of cats! But he should know I don't like litterboxes that much! LOL!

I am wondering, do you have a cat in mind, or are you just looking for another kit?

Yes, I have a cat in mind, his name is Jasper. His meowmy passed away and he was going to be dumped in the country. I kind soul of a woman offered to find a home for him, she already had one in mind. But that fell through. So now she has a cat in her aparment that does not allow cats, and the owner has at least once or twice saw the cat in the window so - it won;t be long before he brings it to her attention.
I saw pictures... He is so cute!!!! He looks just like my Andy. If she can't find a home - he goes to a shelter - not sure which one or what the adoption rate is there. I do beleive Jasper will be coming home. *hope* *hope* Wish the vet test, etc well!

I agree with Heidi.

This is always the way I do it: "I can't just let it starve or be PTS. I will bring it home a few days, get his/her the initial vet appt. Maybe the original owners will post around for it ? I will find it a proper home for it." Then I tell him that I will not keep it because we have too many cats already. After a few days he will say, "You can't just give that kitty away now"
Tears can also be used to make your point at anytime during this period.

With my dad.... after CJ had Annie and Belle, we convinced him that Annie couldn't find a home because of her condition (and she probably wouldn't have if we had even tried!
) And then with Belle, we kept telling him that we were looking for a home for her (But we weren't
) and he fell in love with her!

Good luck!

Hmmm.. Let me guess- is Jasper also a black cat??
I have a feeling that Jasper will end up being a great addition to your gang! Keep us posted! Is there a pic of Jasper u can share with us? (If not, get a pic from that lady who's "fostering" him for us!)

IF JASPER's BLACK- Another idea is just to bring Jasper home and see how long it takes ur hubby to notice that you have FIVE black cats intead of FOUR black cats!!

I am sending you "you'll get Jasper vibes" now!

Umm, yep Jasper is black - how'd ya guess?
I was thinking about bringing home and seeing how long it takes him to notice that there is an extra cat.... but the others would sniff and growl most likely and give it away.

Another idea is to bring him home saying you'd foster him ONLY for a couple days then later on, claim that you are not sure WHICH cat IS JASPER or Andy (since you said he looks so much like Andy)! *GASP*
so You might as well keep all since you're not sure which one is Jasper since Andy and Jasper looks so much alike! Play mindgames with ur hubby until he's so unsure which one is Andy or Jasper..

I think I KNOW WHY I don't have a boyfriend or hubby!! Since I'm sooo evil with my advice on this!!*wicked laughter*

Well, when I wanted to adopt Forest from our vet I told my husband that he would make a great anniversary present. I told him that the traditional first anniversary gift was fur, and he KNOWS I only like fur when it's still breathing!
