I just moved to a new apartment complex that has a lot of strays that people feed. I think one stray has made a den behind a bush outside my door, and has at least one kitten. I saw this adorable little baby for the first time tonight as I came home. Mom and baby were hanging out on my stoop. The baby can't be more than seven or eight weeks old, and is a beautiful gray. He/she runs behind the bush to hide when she sees me coming, and mom watches me and will hiss if I come too close. I don't like seeing all the adult strays around here, but when I see a kitten it just breaks my heart. I want to do something, but what? I think the neighbors have seen the baby too. I saw a little food bowl infront of the bush. It's such a sad situation. Mom and baby are such beautiful cats and deserve real homes. And to top it off, my complex is on a very busy road. The whole thing makes me sad.

Movin' on up!
Moving this to Strays & Ferals - maybe our rescuers can give you some tips/advice.

Best thing to do is to try to get in touch with a group to help with trapping, neutering/spaying these cats and then trying to place the kittens and return the adults. If you go to this link and click on your state it will show you which groups practice TNR in your state:

If you let us know where you are located, maybe we can give you a link to a local group that will help trap and spay/neuter the cats, so at least they stop reproducing! It is sad that people will move out and leave their cats to roam.

Here's a link to Alley Cat Allies.http://www.alleycat.org/index.html

If someone is feeding the cats without trying to trap and speuter them, they are actually just making the cats reproduce faster! Best of luck, often all it takes is one person to start, and the problem can be corrected!
