Reeally down..so down you don't feel like doing anything..so down that you're even cruel to your loved ones including your family..and you don't even know why you feel this way.

Have you ever felt like there's no excitement in your life..and whenever you get close to actually having some fun.....something always seems to come up to take that away.

That's the way I feel right now.

So true, I have been there myself as well. More in my late teens and early 20's and it's very important to take it seriously and seek help. If this is just a temporary thing than talk to your friends and family about it..and let them know what they can do to help. If this is an ongoing problem than best to talk to you doctor.

Either way if you ever need to talk, you can always PM me. I really hope that you feel better soon!!!

Hugs your way

I suffer from clinical depression and have been on medication for the past several years. Your symptoms sound very familiar. Do not hesitate to talk to a doctor if this continues. You can pm me to talk anytime as well. Good luck, hon. Hugs to you.

I hope you feel better soon. As others have advised, you may need to see a counselor to help talk things through, or even a doctor if these feelings persist. Some people think teenagers can't be seriously depressed, but my late teens were one of the hardest times in my life.

I have talked to my counselor and I have talked to a psychiatrist and well..lets just say I've heard the words "Attention Seeker" a little too many times in my life.

My suggestion would be talk to someone who has been there. Any of us who have stated that we suffer or have suffered from depression would be a good start. It's difficult if you can't find a counselor or psychologist that you trust.

I thought it was just the end of puberty thing?

even if it were to be depression, first of all you need to find your inner self again and pull it out of that black hole.

There are better forums than this where you can get help. They deal with depression in both a clinical and a professional manner. No one here is qualified to give you the help you need. As someone who has gone the gauntlet of counselors in my lifetime, I urge you to seek help with a counselor you are comfortable with. Sometimes you have to look around quite abit to find the one that will help you.

Let me just add-

While the administration of The Cat Site is strongly supportive of the idea of providing a place for our members to help each other through tough times and to share their failures and successes in seeking treatment for their psychological disorders, it is vital that everyone is aware that The Cat Site absolutely cannot be a substitute for professional intervention. Also, neither the administration nor the members of The Cat Site can be expected to provide accurate information regarding mental illness nor can we intervene when a member is in risk of harm to self or others.

The administration of The Cat Site strongly suggests that those seeking information and support while dealing with a psychological disorder visit the web site of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill http://www.NAMI.org This is a truly wonderful organization and the web site has extremely valuable information and links to other sites that have been approved by NAMI.

Good luck!

Under the cats, mostly.
Yeah sweetie, I've been there too. I'll give you a tip, don't go for prozac, it's just a con. Try something like St Johns Wort - it's a herbal "pick-me-up" (no you don't smoke it) which means there are no nasty side-effects in your body.

I have to say though, I do agree with Hissy - we could never give you the advice you need, even though we really want to, we're not trained in such matters and we could finish up doing more harm than good. Definitely come here and vent and people can offer you a shoulder to lean on, but by the same token, definitely find help from the professionals

Keep your chin up sweetie, things'll get better. Trust me on this - sometimes it feels like a long haul, but once you're out of the deep blue funk, life is suddenly really rosy. It's more than worth the hassle of looking for help

If your counselor or psychiatrist is telling you this, please find another professional and seek second or even third opinions until you get the answers and help you deserve!

Hope this black cloud does pass and the sun gets brighter soon
