My cat seems to have allergies, that's the best diagnosis so far. She had sores on her lower underside and was put on prednisone for 2 weeks. Most of the sores got better and disappeared but the few original ones remained. They are now returning and I started giving her Benadryl two days ago.

My favorite Vet is only here on Mondays. Since she has only been on the Benadryl for a few days - hard to know if it will help. Should I take her in this Monday just to see? Do you think there is any way they can tell specifically what is causing her rashes? Can they do a biopsy or something?

I've changed her litter and her food...I just wish there was some way to find out exactly what this is...but it may not be that easy. Thanks!

Take kitty back to the vet, have them biopsy one of the sores.
It could be allergies, but it could also be an auto-immune disease. You might also want to try to change her diet to eliminate some of the things cats are commonly allergic to, and see if that helps.
Some common food allergens include: wheat and wheat gluten, corn and corn gluten, chicken and chicken by-products, garlic, and onions.

What kind of food does kitty eat? Is it possible there is some sort of chemical solvent you use in cleaning your home she may have come in contact with?

Just my thoughts...good luck and please keep us posted!

Thanks, everyone for your words of encouragement. I found Natural Balance cat food but it was not the venison kind. It is "Reduced Calorie Natural Balance" and it has many ingredients including "brown rice, chicken, oatmeal, fresh potatoes, duck, flaxseed, cranberries"...Sharky, what do you think of that version? She's eaten it at least 2 months.

Do any of those ingredients concern you? She was on Science Diet before I read on this site that it wasn't preferable. My Vet did the black light test on her to check for worms and such.

The Vet asked me last time if I had any signs of ringworm...I didn't...but I have noticed a few little blisters I never had before on my hands...just one or two and they would go away after a day...so I will mention that to her, just in case! I use very few cleansers, I've always been cautious about this. I use bleach occasionally, that's about it, fabric softener in laundry.

I wonder why it's only on her lower area but perhaps that's because she can't really reach the upper part to lick it extensively! I will call first thing in the morning and get an appointment. She acts irritated like she isn't comfortable, I know I need to do something. Thanks again!
