my cat got shot!

when i came home from work at around 7 we saw a cop car at my house my sister joked that our dad wuz prob. having another bond fire.
but she wuz wrong my mom came running up to us:
"the nabour shot casmo"
tears came streaming out of my eyes i couldn't stop them.
i wanted to see her, pet her, talk to her.
before i even got out of the car my sister drove to the vet with me i cryed and stoped crying horible pictures going through my mind... would she make it or not...
when we got there we had to wait since the vet wuz dealing with another patient, holding back my tears, he escorted us down to the basement. i was scared was i ready for what was ahead of me?
there she was siting in an akward position blood on the floor, her blood, verry awake and alive atentive at every noise. we decided to wait while he took a scan of her to see where she got hit. he feared her spine since her hind was paralized...
he was right six shots five of them werent that deep only two of them bled he feared that one had afected her lungs but the second picture showed that it didnt go deep enough. the sixth one did hit her spinal cord.
he gave me 3 options wich brought tears to my eyes again...
we could send her to an emergency hospital who could treat though we werent garanteed if they could cure her fully it is verry likely she would still be paralised.
we could leave her to be and see what happens
or we could put her down...
me and my sister stayd there for a while, peting her and comforting her, as he was calling my parents for a decision. my mom wanted us to come home and make up a decision she wanted to take the cat home to but the vet didnt think that a good idea...
i need a decision for tomorow but i'm just to confused we dont even have the money to get her treated and she might not be happy being paralised, but she didnt look ready to die yet eather (my sis says) and i dont want to lose her what do i do what would she want?

I would go with what your vet recommends. Cats are so stoic when they are in pain, you sometimes cannot tell how they are doing. If she got shot five times, I hope you nail the ******* that shot her! I take it these are bullets and not bb's?

OH MY GOD!! What a horrible story!! I'm so sorry for you. What is your neighbor's major malfunction?!! I would definitely have the police involved in this one.

About your cat, Casmo...I really don't know what to tell you except what I would do if she were mine. If there was a possiblity of having her live a comfortable life filled with love...I would do whatever was necessary to make that happen. If she is in pain of any kind and there is nothing that can be done to take her pain away...well...then euthansia is what I would choose.

Please let us know what happens with your baby & with your moron neighbor. Will say a prayer tonight for you & yours.

Unreal!!! I am so sorry to her about your baby!! I'm with hissy on this... The vet is there to help you! If you don't have the money, maybe they can make a payment plan. I would see how she is doing tomorrow. It is the hardest decision in the world, but you have to think of them. I know!!! Also make that "man" pay!!!!

My neighbor shot my cat Tigger many years ago as well, he was paralysed for a few months until the swelling went down and then he went on to live for 10 years after that.

I would do whatever the vet recommends though, he should know best

the police is involved as soon as my mom found out my cat got shot she called 911.
the cops will be going around the nabourhood asking people if they saw anything. he probably will get in a lot of trouble manny people have had their pet shot at and stuff but never really told.

That must be completely dreadful. I had a cat hit by a car once, broke her back and she was paralyzed from the mid-section down. Although she was sitting up and interacting with me in no apparent pain, we had to let her go.

It's a really tough situation to be in. I would call ASAP to see if they can make payment arrangements, and if they do but you don't have any cash of your own see if your parents won't let you do odd jobs to pay for it. If they don't, call everyone you know to try to raise the money, especially animal lovers. Just ask if they could help with part of the bill (not all of it) so that you won't lose your baby.

Of course consult the vet... if he feels she is better off with her friends in heaven then it must be her time to go, even if you don't believe so. Take comfort in the fact that she'll have lots of the things she loves and be so happy and grateful to you for your love until the end of all time.

My heart just hurts. Sending you and yours healing light and energy as well as the strength to make the right decision for your little Casmo.

Praying for Casmo... I hope animal cruelty is taken more seriously in Canada than in the states... listen to your vet... I know hear the media got involved in a case where the dog was taken cause there was no fence and the owner couldnt pay within a week a fence had been paid for by the readers..

Oh that is terrible! I can't imagine how your family must be feeling. AND it sounds as if he has done this before. I hope with all my heart that your cat recovers and htat the guy is prosecuted.

Fingers crossed for her, I would wait and talk to the vet before making the decision, and seeing how she has been overnight. Think the biggest issues are whether she will be able to eat and toilet by herself. I really hope the police can do something about this bloke too.

I can't believe that someone could do such a thing.... grrrrr!

I will pray for Casmo and you and your family. What an awful thing to happen. Please think carefully about the next steps too
