It's really hard to find decent food in the UK, a local pet store had some dry food in that seems good, but I'd like some opinions from the experts

It's called Wafcol (a UK co) and has:

Salmon (33%), Potato (20%), Prarie Meal, Maize, Rapeseed Oil, Yeast, Cranberry extract (0.015%), vitamins and minerals.

Protein (33%), Oil (15%), Ash (7%), Crude fibre (1.5%), Vit A (1500iu/kg), Vit D3 (1200 iu/kg), Vit E (150mg/kg)

The only other options seem to be Iams, Purina One or the grocery brands like Whiskas (which give them the runs!). I did also see some Royal Canin in the same store today.

Which is best for my babies?

I am not as up on what is available in europe as some of our members are, but except for my wanting to know what in the world "Prairie Meal" is, and what this food is preserved with, it sounds fine. Was this the complete ingredients list (except for the various minerals and vitamins)?

I wondered about the prairie meal too! That was the complete list of ingrediants, says on the pack that it's:

'an outstanding food......is a hypoallergenic food free from wheat, gluten, soya, barley, rye, oats, red meat, poultry, dairy products, and all artificial colours and flavours'

and 'formulated by leading veterinary surgeons and nutritionists'.

As far as I can tell, Prairie Meal is silage made from wild prairie grasses, used mainly for organic grazing herds.

Or silage made from untended grain crops, grasses and all.

The website says this as the complete ingredient list:

Whole wheat flour, poultry meat meal (15%), wheat bran, soya, vegetable oil, yeast, vitamins and minerals.

(which is odd because this is the Chicken formula, but there's no chicken or chicken flavour)

I would be concerned about flour as the first ingredient, and it's pretty much common knowledge to stay away from anything that says "meat meal", and that says "Poultry Meat Meal" (what meat is it?). It seems to me that there isn't enough meat (there's only 15%, and it's good to have at least 30%), and that the meat isn't so great anyways.

Hold on, that was the dog food (forgot we're talking about the cat food), but I can't find any info from the cat food ingredients.

Well I like what it says it is free of in terms of wheat, soy, artificial colors and flavors, and I know that chicken can be an allergen for cats.

I would prefer if I could have anything I wanted, that the per cent of salmon/protein be higher and a bit less on the potato
but really, this does not sound like a bad food at all.
