You definitely did the right thing! As far as having the kids with them is concerned, after working with visitations for so long it really wouldn't surprise me. People do much worse with their children without thinking it's cause for alarm!

Behaviour like that sound really fishy to me...always go with your gut instinct with stuff like that.

I think you absolutely did the right thing. It is always better to be safe than sorry, but not only that, you have to go with your gut feelings. As far as a thief bringing toddlers along with them, well criminals really aren't the smartest people around so I wouldn't think it's impossible.

MA...your gut was telling you that these people were not behaving in a normal way. Reporting them was the smart thing to do. You may never know why they were trolling your area, but it is possible that your actions prevented a tragedy.

That was definitely the right thing to do. I can't believe that you chased them to get their license plate! This just shows that you are concerned for your entire community, not just your property.

The thing is, if they have a perfectly reasonable explanation for their behaviour, then no harm was done. But it sure sounds fishy, if they weren't up to some nefarious actions, what were they doing casing the houses?

I would deffinatley have reported that! Better safe than sorry! I highly doubt they really had a reason to be there. If they did, like they were lost or something, they wouldn't have sped off! Thoes poor kids.

Absolutely! I don't think they would have sped off if they didn't have something to hide. It's sad that there were kids in the car. It would be nice if the police gave you a call and let you know something. Wouldn't it be awesome if these guys were involved in robberies before and you 'caught' them?

Still sad that there were kids in the car.

There is no way they were lost! I've been lost before but never have I spend away just because someone was watching us. No they had something to hide and they panicked. You did the right thing.

Yep. Sounds a bit suspicious. But you never know what they could have been doing.
They could have been looking for a place to rob, to leave their kids at, coulda been lost...etc.. But its better to be safe than sorry. And yes, you would be surprised at the places people take their children...

I would be careful in chasing someone down though, especially if you think they may be dangerous. Best to get a description of the occupants and the car than put yourself in danger. Especially if they saw you coming out of your house, MA.

BE careful.

I could not have said this better. I am impressed, but still concerned that you might be a target now. Makes me want to start leaving npr on when I leave the house......

kind of on the topic... if you want to wach something interesting about how the minds of robbers think. you should deffinenetaly watch "it takes a theif" on discovery channel sometime. its really interesting, they are former robbers that go around and find people that would be good places to rob, and they take the person into a van with a camera and screen and all out rob their house. of course the people get everything back, but they learn how to better protect their homes.
