no it's real and the book is amazing. Several cat owners got together and painted their cats with food dyes and safe colorings- Then they put together a coffee table book about it

Nope, it's real!

There is a book, well, actually more than one book and calendars, called "Why Paint Cats?" They use a vegetable based paint that is completely safe. They say that the kitties who are painted really like it, as it is undivided attention. Much like some kitties live to be groomed.

I wonder how they got the kitties to sit still long enough to be painted.

Why Paint Cats
This just can not be for real. THe same people wrote books "dancing with the cats" and "why cats paint".
"Heather Busch is a recognized authority on the photography and curation of cat art and is credited with opening the world's first gallery devoted exclusively to the display of cat painting. She has had several books of original work published as a well-known New Zealand painter and sculptor, including Kokigami and Within and Beyond. Burton Silver is a New Zealand based writer and art critic who has been instumental in organizing a number of important solo exhibitions of cat painting. He is no stranger to unusual art forms and has writen books on subjects as diverse as the aesthetics of ornithological dejecta, and contemporary Japanese paper sculpture"

THere is also a parody book called "why cats paint", also sold on amazon. You can see it on the same link.

Since the authors are the same, I think both books are parodies, actually. I don't think any of this is for real. So, people, don't paint your cats, it's a joke.

Still something I wouldn't recommend anybody doing to their cats. If I did it to mine, I am pretty sure they would never get from under the bed afterwards.

THis has to be a joke. THe authors also wrote "dancing with the cats" and "why cats paint". The lady author's biography claims she has gallery devoted entirely to cat art. I mean, come on, they are pulling our leg and making money doing it.

Yea I know. Come to think of it... out of all the cats I have ever known (and its alot) I have never known 1 cat that would stay still long enough for something like that. And I dont think cays can be "trained" like dogs. or can they?
