Hi! My boyfriend and I are moving to a new apartment in a week. Its only 10 miles away so getting my cats there won't be difficult. What I'm worried about is their happiness in their new home. They are not outdoors cats so I'm not worried about them running back to the old place.
I'm going to clean the place really well before I move them in but I was wondering if anyone had any advice for helping them be comfortable and to adjust once they're there! I think I read once that when you first introduce your cat to a new place you should let them out in a smaller, quiet room so that they can take their own time in exploring. Sound right to anyone? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Your cats should be okay especially since you'll be moving all your belongings with you and they will recognize their scent. Plus, they have each other! It sounds gross, but I considered moving dirty litter along with the box so that my kitty would have no doubt about where to go. When I moved my cat he hid underneath the bed for a whole day and was really reluctant to eat or use the box, but after the first day he slowly began to explore and now he is completely adjusted and happy with the new space. Can you set up the new place while the cats are at the old and then bring them over to reduce the commotion for them?
