here is the ingrident list

CHICKEN BY-PRODUCT MEAL, BREWERS RICE, CORN GLUTEN MEAL, GROUND YELLOW CORN, SOYBEAN MEAL, BEEF TALLOW PRESERVED WITH MIXED-TOCOPHEROLS (SOURCE OF VITAMIN E),FISH MEAL (SOURCE OF OCEAN FISH FLAVOR), BREWERS DRIED YEAST, SALMON MEAL,TURKEY BY PRODUCT MEAL, POWDERED CELLULOSE, ANIMAL DIGEST, TETRA SODIUM PYROPHOSPHATE, PHOSPHORIC ACID, CALCIUM CHLORIDE,CHOLINE CHLORIDE, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, SALT, ZINC SULFATE, FERROUS SULFATE, L-ALANINE, TAURINE, MANGANESE SULFATE, RED 40, NIACIN, CALCIUM CARBONATE, VITAMIN E SUPPLEMENT, DL-METHIONINE, L-LYSINE, YELLOW 5, COPPER SULFATE, CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE, BLUE 2, VITAMIN A SUPPLEMENT, THIAMINE MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN SUPPLEMENT, ROSEMARY EXTRACT, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE, VITAMIN B12 SUPPLEMENT, SODIUM SELENITE, FOLIC ACID, CALCIUM IODATE, VITAMIN D SUPPLEMENT, BIOTIN,MENADIONE SODIUM BISULFITE COMPLEX (SOURCE OF VITAMIN K ACTIVITY). A -1300

You generally want the first listed ingrident to be a real meat. vs a byproduct meal. And corn is pretty high up there on the list as a main ingrident which is a filler. I personally wouldnt reccomend this type of food.

I personally would not feed it.
Too much corn (any corn is too much), too little actual meat, and it has dyes.
I liken it to potato chips for cats.

I started mine out on it, I really didnt know what to give him! But after reading some posts I will be switching over to something without by products-I will be looking a little bit closer at the ingredients next time I go to the store, switching brands wont hurt them will it?

Switching brands shouldn't hurt them, but you'll need to switch them slowly, over at least a period of a week, 10-14 days is better.

Besides Nutro-what is a good brand to switch over to? Anything without by products?

Stay away from by-products, anything other than meat as the first ingredient, dyes, chemical preservatives, corn.

Thank you for all the help

It shouldn't hurt them too much to eat human food does it? I had a muffin from Perkins the other night and I had it sitting on my coffee table and the little bugger got into it and ate some! Okay actually almost half, he scarfed it down FAST! It didn't seem like it affected him at all but with him being so young I wasn't sure.
I feel so dumb asking these kind of questions-everyone here seems so well educated, except me!!

Really? Where do you get that at? Probably Petco or something like that?

Most of your major pet stores carry it, or if you have a feed and seed store that carries Diamond animal products they can get it for you too. 'S good stuff!

Also, the next time you go to the grocery store, don't buy your cat food there well, with the exception of maybe one brand. I think some feed Purina One with good results..But why not check out a pet food store? They have a ton of varieties and you can buy your toys there too...
I spend more time there than at the grocery store
