We are having a shrimp fest tommorow. I was wondering can I feed boiled shrimp to my 4 month old kittens. I was thinking of giving them just a little as a treat. Any ideas? Thank you.

I've fed shrimp to my cats before but never when they were that young. Make sure if you do feed it to them, make sure you only give them a tiny bit, and break it up into tiny pieces for them.

Thanks for replies. What's little bit? Is one medium size shrimp each be ok? Why should I break it up into tiny pieces? Thanks

I'm thinking tiny pieces would be good so that they don't choke on the shrimp veins. Also, be sure that the shrimp aren't seasoned, particularly with things like garlic and onions.

Cloud Shade listed the only caution I would have - that they be cooked plain, no garlic, onion or chives in the cooking water or in the butter -if you put a bit of butter on them - and you can, it is a great and delicious source of fat.

DOn't give them much the first time you do this - my Juniper (RB) used to love shrimp - he would raid the bins if he could smell it - but even one always upset his stomach. I think he may even have been allergic, like some people are.

Ok here's an update.

Fed them one half jumbo shrimp each. They LOVED it. So the next day I split another one between them. No upset stomachs or anything. They enjoyed it so much. I think we'll do this again.

Thanks for all of your advice.
