Hi all

I've had a little kitten for about 1 week now. It is now around 9 weeks old, and was only taken from its mom when it was 8 weeks old. I'm not sure if this is a problem, but she tends to lick my hands very enthusiastically, with ears back and standing on her hindlegs whilst holding my hands with her front paws. It is almost as if she is craving something on my skin. Does anyone please have any ideas why? Should I be concerned about this, or is it merely affection?

As an aside, she stands on her hindlegs more than I can believe! She will even chase people like a tiny little bear - reared up and waving her front paws around. It is really quite amazing to see!

Cheers

Awe...it sounds like you have become her litter mate. She is cleaning and grooming you. 8 weeks is fine if the kitten needed to leave mom. They will usually be more social with people as well. As for the hind leg walking, yes cats do this when they play. Not all cats like doing it as much, she's just being a kitten.

Thanks Sandie - I was worried that she was lacking salt or something in her diet... ;-)
