As some of you may know, my precious Fred went to the Bridge yesterday. I am completely heartbroken over this, and now my other cats seem to be afraid of me. None of them will let me pet them, and they run away if I approach them. They will not even accept treats from me. They seem to be looking for Fred, but not as much as I thought they would. I know they must be stressed with Fred being gone, and us being in the middle of a move. What can I do? I love my babies, and I don't know if I could take them not being their sweet little selves any more. It was hard enough losing Fred, but now I feel as if I have lost all of them.

That is so sad!! I feel so badly for you - now is the time for you all to hold & comfort each other. The loss of Fred has really crushed the harmony in your household..
I pray & hope that the other kitties come around, back to their meowmmy's loving arms, very soon. I wonder if somehow you got the smell of the vet's on your clothes, or in your hair, or something. I hope that someone here can give you advice! I can offer only heartfelt sympathies....Hugs, Susan

Unfortunately, it will take time. You need to let them come to you. My parents' cat seemed to "blame" my dad after our cat and our dog (her best friend) passed. She ran whenever he heard her coming. Eventually, she started coming to him and spending time with him again. I would sit somewhere quietly and talk to them, explain that Fred is gone, and that you love them all.

I am so sorry about Fred. I am sure that they are just missing him to and things will get back to the way they were once they are used to his loss.
My thoughts are with you.

Pepper came and sat on my desk a little while ago. She kept looking like she wanted something and I told her I sure could use a hug. She crawled right over and wrapped her paws around my neck. Then she just kept looking at me. I told her that Fred was gone, and she was my big kitty now, as I am pretty sure she will become alpha cat. I promised her that she was going with me when we move, Scooter and Pearl, too. She snuggled down and hugged me for a long time. It made me feel better. It is so amazing how they know what you say to them.
Scooter still won't have anything to do with me, and Pearl won't even come out of her hidey place to eat.
One at the time, I guess.

I'm so sorry to hear that Fred has gone on. I think it's a good sign that Pepper has come back to you. Maybe she'll bring the others around. I think animals grieve in thier own ways so maybe this is thiers. I know my friend and her parent's had 2 dogs that were siblings. When she married and took the one dog they still saw eachtoher a lot. When one passed the other noticed and grieved for a bit. It just took time. Keep your chin up! Just love your other 3. They'll put smiles on your face.

I feel so sad for you & your kitties. I think that time will help your kitties relax & feel comfortable again. It was so sweet of Pepper to cuddle with you. You both needed reassurance & love. Of course your move will add to the stress level for all of you. Take it "one day at a time." You will be in my prayers.

I think you have unusually close and perceptive cats! I'm glad Pepper gave you the hug you needed. Give Scooter and Pearl some time. I'm sure they are grieving, and know you are, too.
He was such a nice looking old boy, even if he didn't smile for the camera!

I am so glad to here that Pepper is coming around. My Ebony acted like this when I lost Ravin it took him awhile but he finally got back to normal. I'll keep an eye out in the forums hope to see more good news.

So sorry for the loss of Fred..I didn't know that

I am sure the kits will come around in time.. They just sense something is amiss, he is gone, and they are unsure..Just give it time.

You are in my thoughts. RIP
Fred
