I think it's a good idea to use numbers and this would never be a problem.
But since they had to use descriptive terms, I'm VERY curious to know what they usually put. "Black/Asian/Hispanic/etc. couple?" "Woman with blond hair in black shirt with bald man in purple shirt?" Seriously, use table numbers!
I can understand why the word Jew may be offensive to some people, but I don't think everyone who uses the word is racist. I don't think that girl was racist. I don't think she would knowingly put a racial slur on their ticket for everyone to see, including them.
I watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
every day and he's Jewish and calls himself a Jew. He calls other Jewish people Jews. People on his show do the same thing. I honestly never never knew the word Jew was a negative word and could make people so angry. Jewish people ARE Jews, aren't they?
I actually love Jewish people and I've always called them Jewish because I don't generally use slang anyway--and I'm glad I didn't because I sure wouldn't want to offend anyone.
Is it negative for Jewish people to be classified by their religion? Has anyone ever heard the term "nice Jewish boy?" As in, "I need to find me a nice Jewish boy!"
Don't people who are Jewish (not converted Jewish) originate from the same part of the world? Don't all people who originate from the same part of the world look similar and have recognizable features?
Would "Muslim couple" be racist? Or just "Mus couple?"
I'm seriously curious about this and I really hope I haven't offended anyone.
