I'll have to wait til I get home, then Alfie will no doubt hekp by walking across the keyboard, or standing on the enter key!

It's actually quite hard to stop yourself frm going back and correcting typos!

As a kid, I learned to type on my Dad's old machine, but I would just use 4 fingers and look at the keys, and on straight composition I could maintain over 100 wpm for a few minutes.

When I went into the military and had to learn the touch system, I had a murderous time un-learning my bad habits and getting up to the required 40 wpm, and very nearly got kicked out for flunking typing twice.

Of all my achievements, I value learning the touch system of typing highly, for it has been of immense benefit.

As far as grammar, well, the idea IS to communicate, and I believe we are all able to cut each other some slack in the very subjective area of "bad grammar".

Yup. And don't tell me about walking on the keyboard, either. I had one of 'em laying on my lap a couple of days ago, ahd a foot across the keyboard and opened up something, and kept opening and kept opening .... I had to close about a hundred windows which was a pain 'cause it sas some some installation probram er program and it kept asking me was I SURE that I wanted to stop installation
? with each window.

OT: In woodworking, "within 1/4" or "almost square" isn't good enough. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing well. If I didn't learn anything else from my late Dad, I learned this.

I've lucked out since Ari is now in the kitchen stalking the wild fly. But I've been there (cat in left arm) and even having to type with one hand because I have to hold the keyboard with the other. Why? Ari is sleeping where the keyboard sits.

Yes, I'm like captiva, too - I just type as usual. I seem to hit between keys a lot.

I just remembered a goody from the first (and since lost) vacation thread. Suzie typed that Susan "ripped her knockers".

Heck, Susie gets some good ones off every now and then.

Absolutely not.
You just need to make an effort to spell as many things incorrectly as I do or exceed it

hey with the atrhritis I have a hard time typin as it is hard to hit ceryain keys. This is with just the right hand, and i'm fairly proud of myself.

now for ther left. did you know that the left hand is used in typing at 60% whilre the right is only used 40% of the time. this is becasue most righties woukld need to be able to leave off their right hand to fklip pages while typing. also mecause the right hand is used for number entry and computation.

eegads, the left is touh. i use my right only a fair bit thoug, such as now.

And here's with both hands, it's a lot quicker but it's harder in somewhays too, as I cant put my fingers certain ways from the arthritis.

subscribe to this thread and feel free to post with your poorest english when you only have one hand free, or just feel free to respond about anything without me bugging anyone about their spelling.
Don't be blaming it on poor Chasey Wyan......
