........... GROWING

Today was a sad but exciting day for my husband and I.
Our oldest Laynee, and our youngest Alleaha, went to school.

Laynee had her 1st day of Kindergarten and Alleaha had her 1st day of pre-school.

I got home and didnt know what to make of the dead silence among me.

So I cuddled with Garfield and fell asleep!! Something I have not done in the day time in 5 years!!!!!

Hope yall enjoy the pics...

Laynee and Alleaha.... (Alleaha is dressed different b/c pre-school doesnt wear uniforms)

A few of their friends....

So very cute! I love the kids with their new outfits and new shoes! Your little ones are just starting school. My baby (who turns 6 tomorrow) starts first grade at the end of the month. It is nice to have the kids grow up, but I'm going to miss all the little kid stuff from kindergarten!

Your girls are just beautiful!

6?? Wow!! Close to Laynees age.
It goes so fast doesnt it?

Anyone have a remote that pauses it all for as long as I want?

Thank you!!

And YES.... we couldn't be any prouder!! Those girls are the air we breath. We would do anything for them.
We can barely afford private school but David and I discussed it and we decided as long as we can make it just fine ... then thats where they are going. I feel like my babies are sooo safe there.

Thanks for your sweet words.

Or just save a few days for later. When I am old and alone, I would pay a million dollars to have one day of cuddling them as babies!

Well, I'll just keep having more and more litters of (foster) kittens. They are awful sweet, too!

Your girls are such beauties, you are truly blessed.

I'm confused though over the uniforms.
Blue/green plaid and white I'm familiar with, Navy and white I'm familiar with (but not at the same school, always one or the other), what's got me though is the boys in red/navy, never seen anything like that, nor I have seen boys' uniform colors differ from girls'.

Yes... I will try to explain....

Kindergartners are allowed to wear only navy blue skorts, shorts, pants, or jumpers. Or a plaid jumper.
Shirts can be button up (white only) or polo shirts in red or white.

When you take these options... you gets lots of different looks.
They get more strict once the kids get to 1st grade.

Oh and THANK YOU Purity!!

I'm so proud, but feel so old.
I kinda know how you feel. My brother in law (now 16) moved here 2 years ago from Mexico. My husband and I decided we wanted him here to learn so he will have a good life. I feel like he is my son!! He is no longer in a private school (our private school only goes up to 8th grade). Im only 23 and he is 16 yet I feel like an ol' momma!!

Aww, they're so cute with their little first day of school outfits! Look how shiny and white those sneakers are! I bet they're already dirty now!!

I went to private school (with very similar uniforms, except we had to wear navy kneesocks) and it was the best decision my parents could have made!

May I suggest, as someone in the educational field, since you do have some spare time, get involved with your girls' schools. In most places you only need a h.s. diploma to sub. (and around here it is $60 a day), or just volunteer to go with them on field trips, be on the pta, anything to get you involved. There are so few parents that have the time or energy to do so, but it will mean so much to your girls (not to mention the school) to know you are involved with their school. Even something simple like doing a garage sale for a scholarship to a student who cant afford to go there, or a bake sale to pay for a trip to the zoo, will make you a hero in their eyes. In my honest opinion (which may not matter much) it is the best thing any parent can do. In the years to come it will help them remain close to you. Good luck, and take lots of pictures, I hear it goes by even faster once they start school.

Awwww, your post made me smile.
I agree with you completly.
I have already told Laynees teacher that I want to be a room mom. I taught Spanish at this same school last year. The only reason Im not this year is b/c we are getting ready to move back home to Louisiana. I saw in this same teachers room last year the room moms did lots of things to help in the class room. I knew thats what i wanted to do once Laynee got into kindergarten.
Also, the kids all gather in the school gym in the morning and pray and then line up to got to class. They do the same for dismissal. I am always there for that. I feel it is important for my girls to see that I too think it is important to pray.
Thank you for your other ideas on things to do around the school. I will check these out.

And of course your opinion matters!!

Thanks again.... Sarah
