My brother has just emailed me to say that their cat, Mir, has a tumour and will be PTS today. They have been worried for some time about her losing weight, but took her to the vet recently on my advice, hoping it was a parasite problem that could be treated. She was a lovely tortie, and had two kittens last year, one of which they kept. Marmite will miss his mom, as they were good friends.

Oh Jenny i'm so sorry for all of you
That sounds exactly how one of my parents cats went as well and she had cancer
I dread the day i'm in that position

Poor Marmite without his mum as well

RIP Mir

It's almost just as heartbreaking about the furballs that are left behind, isn't it? I hope your brother's emptiness is soon filled with happy memories of Mir.

I am sorry to hear about your brother's sweet baby Mir.

I too had a tortie who had to be PTS because she wound up having a tumor that was invading all of her organs.

RIP Mir

Thanks everyone. I have passed on your condolences to my brother. He and my SIL are pretty devastated right now - she was only 4 years old.
