Rush for tiger's dung to use as pest control

August 12, 2005 ¤Ñ Family Land Zoo in Jeolla province said yesterday that it has received a rush of requests from farmers residing nearby for tiger's dung, as it has proved to be an effective way to scare off wild animals.

Park Jong-cheon, a 54-year-old farmer, spread 20 kilograms of tigers' dung that the zoo provided for free on sweet potato fields at his farm, suspecting that wild boars might be afraid of the smell of such a ferocious animal as a tiger.

The experiment succeeded, and for the last six days, wild boars have avoided his farm.
Other residents in his village also spread tigers' dung on their cornfields and are awaiting the result.
A veterinarian at the zoo said, "Wild boars might have felt threatened by the smell of the dung, which is used by another animal to mark its territorial claim."

I wonder what "wild animals" may shy away from my property if I spread my crew's dung around the garden???

You should give it a go Yayi! Your garden may not smell or look too pretty in the end though!

It's a great idea - kind of in theory!

Seriously enough, the old-timers around here used to claim that peeing (human pee, esp. a man's) is a good deterrent to keep coyotes away. Seems to work pretty darn good, where I'm at... just, please, don't ask how I know !

Seems like a good idea to me. All they are going to do is despose of the tiger poo anyway.
