I am a big fan of the Canon Powershot A series cameras. I purchased the Powershot A80 a year ago but today's model would be the Powershot A95. Here's a review if you're interested: Steves Digicam Review

It is a great camera to learn photography with since you can use the automatic features or go fully manual. The picture has wonderful clarity and colour. The camera also fits nicely in the hand and has a swivel LCD screen. When I purchased the A80 I thought I would never use the swivel screen but I actually use it quite a bit. It's very easy to learn, start with the automatic setting and then play with the other settings.

Here are some sample pictures from my A80:

Also, here is a very good article reminding the reader that you do not have to buy the most expensive camera to have wonderful pictures - it's the photographer that makes the difference not the equipment!

I recently bought a Nikon CoolPix 5900 & have been happy with it-I decided to start at 5 mp instead of buying something cheaper & upgrading later on. With a big memory card, the movie mode is pretty entertaining, too. Here is a closeup of a lizard..

And one of Skyler where you can see every little hair(before downsizing & running thru photobucket)

I agree completely. It doesn't really matter if you have a ten thousand dollar camera if you can't take a decent picture with it. The Canon Power Shot line is nice. It's what my wedding photographer uses for his personal camera when all he needs is a point and shoot. 'Course, when he's working, the camera and lenses he uses are probably worth more than my life...

Right here! :)
I have Canon PowerShot G5 and I realllly like it.

I was gonna post some photos I made this weekend, but I cant find the cord to install them to the computer since I took it out of the camera case before the trip I made..........I must keep the cord in the case

I´m really too tired to look for the cord or think about it, but will have more time tomorrow. Now I´m heading for bed, have to get up early for my new job...

Any digital camera that you would say 'Stay away!' from?
I just got myself a Fuji F-10 about a month ago and
it! It's small, compact and takes great pictures (even indoors). Sometimes the flash is too strong, so it can wash out subjects, but with a good idoor mode with no flash, you rarely need it. No flash, also means no redeye.
I would like to suggest, however that you look at the Sony P200. The Sony's are good because they're a little longer than most of the small cameras that have come out recently. This is good because it means that the flash is far enough away from the lense to make it very good in terms of red eye. It takes great pictures and is also about the same size as the Fuji.
Both of them take specialized (more expensive) cards, but really.. you only need one.
Steve's Digicams
This is a really good site. I highly suggest going into the forums there, they even have a "what camera should I buy" section that's highly active and have some people who really know what they're talking about.
Let us know what you get...I'm always curious!

IMO, my pictures have got better and better and I can't believe that I had a "normal" camera for so long before I bought myself this. The only thing that I don't like about it is that the battery runs out pretty fast..... But all in all

Here's a recent Guin pic I took in normal daytime in the garden. I love the way the colours on the plants look really vibrant and show up in details

Hey, that's the camera I have!
I don't have any major complaints except that the beeping with I turn it on kills some great sleeping pics.
Love the zoom!

Here is a picture of Maggie, one of my former ferals that I took with my new camera. Its a Kodak DX7590. I bought it recently to take pictures of my daughter in marching band. Hope to get some good pictures from the stands. Its got a 10x optical zoom and its easy to use.

Under the cats, mostly.
I use a Kodak Easyshare C300 - it gives some really fab pics for not a lot of money. It's complete with a custom zoom function, button to "tag" pictures as favourites, and all the software for uploading them, editing them and suchlike. DOn't ask me to get too technical though....
