A very good friend of mine is getting married. I am going to be a bridesmaid. I'm very confused as to what a good gift amount is. She did not register for gifts so I assume everyone is bringing money. I don't know how much to bring. The wedding is in NY and it's at a restaurant. I bought the bridesmaid dress with my own money ($200). The bride and her future husband always give us gifts. On our birthdays and when we moved. We're very close and I don't want them to think that this day is not special for us.
How much would you give them as a gift?
Thanks in advance.

It depends really?, but what i did for my nextdoor neighbours as a gift because they were already living together and basically had everything, was to book them into the honeymoon suite for the evening.

Well, you could give them money (maybe $100) and then make a little "honeymoon" package for them. Just a small one with some candles, massage oil, etc., in a nice bag so they can take it with them on their honeymoon.....

Are you sure that they want money because they did not register? I would ask a family member discreetly if that is the case. It may well be, that especially as you are a bridesmaid, your friend would rather have something personal as a memento of the occasion, and maybe a family member could suggest something appropriate.

I agree, maybe they have something special in mind that they haven't told everyone else??

What happens alot here is that the people standing up in the wedding pool all there money together and get the bridge and groom a "big" gift. Like a gas grill/patio set/vaccumm cleaner etc.....

The thing is I'm sure that the best man and the rest of the bridesmaids are bringing money. I'm pretty sure of that. Even if I do bring money and they wanted smth else I want them to get it themselves because I don't trust my taste. I think $100 a person and a honeymoon basket would be good. What do you think guys? I was thinking to put smth sentimental, like a pic of us in the basket as well. I also though of writting a poem for them. Any more advice and ideas are greatly apreciated. I don't think I mentioned but it's my first wedding. I'm scared more than the bride.

Thank you very much guys. I am getting very nervous. I can't imagine making a toast. I'll turn read and start crying. Your comments are very helpful. Thanks again.

I think that's a perfect gift! I like the idea of a pic of you and her and then maybe frame a photo of her and her new hubby. She'll love it!!
