I just found this site and I wanted to share it . It's about the testing Iams does on animals, and a video from inside their labs. I will never buy Iams again. I would like to know all the companies that test like this someday, and I would like to get it all stopped somehow....

I just went deeper into the site and watched other videos about all the animals tested....made me so ill, I had to go for a walk...and cried all the way.

Looked on my cat food bag and it says right on it, " Animal feeding tests using Association of American Feed Control Officials(AAFCO)procedures provides complete and balanced nutrition for all life stages" I'm going to start buying the products listed on the site that dont test. I never dreamed they did such horrible things!

Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I couldn't watch the video, the still pics are enough!
I am going to foward the website to any animal owners that I know, and I am going to see if I can contact Vons and KMart (our only local chain stores) to see if they will start carrying the humane brands. Good job on helping look out for the welfare of companion pets, Salem Cat!

This is making me very ill and upset, but I feel like it's something I need to know. I just watched another video about military animal testing, and I'm going to write George Bush(there's no email address, Hmmmmmm!) That site is:

www.peta.org/feat/military/

Thank you everyone for being as concerned and shocked as I am about this. And thank you for your help!

I never buy Iams - I was told about this long before YY arrived so she will NEVER eat the stuff. The safest is human grade cat food - with the mad cow scare et al.

Just remember, Iams/Eukanuba/Purina are all under the same parent company.
However, I take everything coming from PETA with a grain of salt, they love employing shock tactics.
Some of what they report is very true, but often it is gross exaggeration.

I cannot bear to look at this site, but I would like to know what brands are not tested on animals. Would someone take a minute to post names of a couple of brands (kitten and cat food)?

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I can't bring myself to look at it
But from the sound of it, it looks like its the same video that "Uncaged" show at the Supreme Cat Show in the UK.

Iams have their stand just further up from them, and when i rang them one day to ask if it was untrue then why didn't they take "Uncaged" for liable?!.

Their reply was " Freedom of speech!"

I didn't need to hear anymore and posted the remaining bag of kibbles back to Proctor and Gamble

Oh no!, Purina Ones the same company is it?!. Time for another change i think!!

From previous posts on this site I would be careful of PETA. They seem to want to get rid of all animal ownership of any kind, including all domestic pets. So they have a very strong agenda. That does not make the IAMS thing any better, but it could be a case of 'out of the frying pan, into the fire' with our loyalties.

I layed awake until 2am last night thinking about these and many other videos from other sites that I made myself watch earlier. Some of these investigations happened just miles from where I live and were found to be very true. And in those cases, nothing was made up by Peta to make it any worse. They were completely honest and reported only the truth, and the truth was extremely horrible! One of them was just a couple of months ago.
I do realize that Peta can go over board when they want to really grab your attention. But they are also a voice for animals that is being heard. I dont agree with everything they are doing, but they are getting things done that need correcting.
Thank you everyone for your concern with this!

Susan, there were posts earlier this year on PETA and their attitude to euthanasia - many of the members (and I think even the management) are extreme animal rights campaigners who see the ownership of animals per se as unethical and would PTS rather than let people have pets. That is not to say they don't do good work as well in places, but they do have their own agendas so need to be taken with a grain of salt.

This was on an IMO thread:

Most people do.

Too few understand what this org is really all about, they have a great propoganda machine going and most of their supporters, truely believe that PETA does good things for animals.

Let me be absolutely blunt, PETA has done very little good things for animals over the many years of their existance.

I know you meant well with PETA, and I know most supporters do mean well, but PETA is not an org worth supporting. In a nutshell, their definition of "Ethical" involves the concept "Extinction over Exploitation", and their definition of "Exploitation" is any use of an animal, other than observing in their natural habitat from a non-intrusive distance. In fact the core leadership of PETA, has an ultimate goal to essentially all out eliminate the existance of captive animals [Including Dogs/Cats/etc].

They do their best to keep this truth concealed, but their actions, and their blatent lack of willingness to deny this statment in numerous interviews, pretty much confirms it.
