I have to go to the laundromat every week to do my laundry, and I'm getting sick of it! Arrrgghhh!

I swear, the next place I'm moving into is going to having laundry IN the building, preferably a combo unit inside the apartment!!!

Anyone else here have the wonderful fortune (
) of having to do their laundry at the 'mat?

Laundry By hand is what i am doing now.

I was part of the laundromat club for 6 1/2 years! I know how much it sucks, especially when I'd have a full week's worth of clothes, plus bedding, only to come home, and have my son make a mess, or throw up on clothes, or bedding. Plus, just all the lugging around....especially since I lived on the second floor....carrying all those baskets down the steps, into the car, then back up the steps once I got home.....YUCK!!! You have my sympathy.
I now have a house, and not to rub it in, but it is SOOOOOO nice, throwing a load in the dryer before I go to bed, and not have to sit there babysitting it, worrying that someone may try to steal my stuff, or remove my clothes before they're dry.

I don't have a washer & dryer either. My apartment has a laundry room in my building. I'm like you though...I would love to have my own washer & dryer in my place. That is my dream.

I, unfortunately, do not have a washer or dryer either. (Nor do we have a dishwasher!!!)

We have laundry rooms at our apts. here but the first or second time we used them someone had taken our clothes out of the dryer and put theirs in to use our time.
So now I take them to my grandmother's house (which is still a pain -- 5 miles away).

Next place we move into will definitely have a washer, dryer and dishwasher! Better yet, a maid!

Me! (I mean, 'me I have to go to the laundrymat', not 'me I want to do your laundry'
). Techinically I could do it in the building as there's a washer and drier in the basement, but there's only one of each, and I usually have at least a few loads, so rather than spend forever doing it downstairs, I just haul everything to the laundrymat, since it's way faster that way (though it still sucks!).

I'm off to the laundromat... yuck.
A maid is sounding mighty good right about now.

No, I have th ewonderful fortune of choosing between walking a block to the laundromat or paying 1.50 for washing and another 1.50 for drying (per load!!) in-building.

Probably my most un-favorite thing ever was when we had to go to the laundromat for a couple of years after we got married
. When I bought the trailer I had the option of buying it with all its appliances and having it added into the mortgage, but didn't see the sense in paying the extra interest. So we did without for a couple of years as we couldn't afford to buy a washer. Until my elderly aunt died and I told my brother (the executor) that all I really, really wanted from her house was the washer & dryer! It was heaven ...

argh. thanks for reminding me I should get off my butt..

We have laundry in my bldg... but I always have to remember to put money on the laundry card..We have no coin washer/dryers.
You take your laundry card (looks like a credit card) to the nearest grocery store with a machine and add money to it...
This was installed after the 32nd time that some drug addict broke into the machines to get the change inside...Ack.

Its quite the drag.

I love my laundromat. It has wonderful front loading triple load commercial machines, and about 50 dryers, so I have never had to wait. And it has those laundry club "debit" cards too, which I love because I don't have to save up quarters. I have enough clothes that I only need to do laundry about once a month, and with the big machines, it takes about 1 1/2 hours to do everything.

I would hate to have to do laundry one load at a time, it would take forever. And I don't need a spot in my apartment to install the machines.

However, I do agree that with a family, you would probably need your own washer and dryer at home.

We have machines in the building (12 washers and 12 dryers)... there is 170 apartments sharing them though and two people who run laundry businesses from them despite being told all the time not to.

I find it bad enough just going down to the basement to do laundry - I can't imagine going to the laundromat anymore.

My other pet peeve is my next door neighbour who has 2 spoilt kids whose clothes must never touch each others and so she uses 2 machines when she could use one (and the several other people that do this). Maybe I should go to the laundromat where I don't know the people

Paid my dues to hauling laundry to laundromats years ago, and swore that on the deal-maker/deal-breaker list for any future residence would be in-house laundry facilities. It's right up there, along with utilities included in the rent, just behind allowing cats.

When i lived in Texas I had to do laundry in a laundromat... it was usually the apartment complex's across the street, and it was GROSS... i lived about an hour and a half away from my parents, so i just decided to start driving home on the weekends to visit and took my laundry with me to do there... that is how bad it was.

That was 3 years ago, havent been in a laundromat since!
