Hello there,
My name is Terese and I'm the mother of three young kids. I've been waiting for 7 yrs now to get a kitten; we decided the kids had to be old enough that we could trust them around the cats, that they will be kind and respectful of animals. We feel we are at that point now,
so a few days ago I brought home a young kitten from a low-funds animal shelter. I believe this kitten (we named her Jasmine) to be about 7 weeks old. She had a cold and earmites, also worms and even fleas.... I didn't know about the fleas until she came home, but the rest I decided could be fixed. Took her straight to the vet. Her veins were too small to draw blood from (he tried) so we couldn't check for other illnesses yet. She was wormed and treated for earmites, also now she's on an antibiotic cause she started coughing. The vet couldn't hear heartbeat or listen to the lungs cause she just keeps on purring so loud!
She is a real sweetheart, so tolerant of anything and cuddles and purres all the times.
Also now that she's getting good nutrition and supplements (she was undernurished) she's getting strength and is now playfull as well.
We all love this little baby so, she's just a little angel!
Planning on adopting one more once these fleas can be treated. I guess I need to wait a little while for flea treatment?
I'm glad I found this forum, it's so much fun to be able to share and to ask questions from people who know what they're talking about!

Welcome to TCS....it will be good for this little one to have a companion so I'm glad you plan to adopt a second kitten.

Hi Terese...congrats on your new addition...
my Webster (foster baby) was a literal mess when he came to me...sounds very familiar...fleas, mites, undernourished, he had a runny nose, no hair on his behind or tail (looked like he'd been thrown from a vehicle)...but despite all the medicines, pokes, prods, baths etc, he is still the most loving and purring kitty I've ever seen...seems like these ones know that we've saved their lives and that's their way of showing their gratitude

You should post pics of your new baby. I just adopted a "gutter kitty" too. I think mine is about 5 or 6 weeks old. They had a hell of a time trying to draw blood for the feline leukemia/aids test. They had to go back for a second try because they didnt get enought the first time.

Oh and welcome to the group! I'm new too.
