Put something in front of the door to keep her from tearing up your carpet. You can't let her out, because she might fight with the other cats. She's the foster right? She just smells that they smell different, so she doesn't trust them, which is why she's hissing... try to keep them separate is the best advice I can give.

My foster Sugartoes was fierce when she had the kittens, but now that it is just her, she is doing fine in "general population". Festus, on the other hand, is still hissing and growling...such a mean kitty!

Yup its the foster kitty. When you say put something in front of the door you mean on the inside where she is are on the outside?

Inside... like a towel. Put it under the door, or pin it down so that she can't move it. That's what I did when we had Topaz in the house. Saved my carpet... well... what was left of it anyway!

Maybe you can lock your kits in another bedroom for a while, and let her out for a few minutes, so she thinks the "threat" is gone. She is only trying to protect her babies!

I have a sisal rug under my bedroom door where I keep the kittens, so they don't ruin the carpet when digging.

Well I did lock my other kitties up later tonight and she is still doing the same thing, like she doesn't want to be around her kittens anymore. I don't even think she's nursing them anymore.
