I was in Petsmart this afternoon and was walking by the Nutro section. I noticed that they had a flavor called Chicken Cacciatore. It stuck out at me because I know that people chicken cacciatore has tomato in it and sure enough the ingredients listed had tomato paste. Here is a link to the flavor, but here it says tomato flakes, but I am 100% sure in the store on the can it said paste:

I checked the Seafood Jumbalaya flavor and it to has tomato paste also:

And another, seafood and tomato bisque:

we tried those once many years ago. it got a big thumbs-down from my crew.
i also was under the impression that tomato was bad for kitties (learned that a while after we tried those flavors).

The green parts of the plant contain the toxin. I'm not sure that I would trust most pet food companies to only use fully ripe tomatoes, though.

I read that some cats have a taste for tomatoes.

When I was a kid I had an orange Manx and he loved my mother's spaghetti.

I had a cat once that loved tomato. It made it easy to give her meds - just put tomato paste on them!

The link says 100g of tomatoes are bad. With tomato paste bing the 9th ingredient, in a 3 oz can of food, I'm going to venture a guess that there's nowhere close to 100 g of tomato in that can. There's probably enough for flavor. And Nutro's website does say tomato paste on the Seaafood and Tomato Bisque ingredients.
Tomato paste is the 7th ingredient on the Chicken Caccitore, and 9th on the Jambalya. Nutro is a highly reputable company and wouldn't use something if it would make a cat sick. But again, that's why there are so many varieties of flavor, so they can meet everyone's needs and preferences.

100grams is equal to 3.3 ouzes which is an ave salad tomato with the h2o still in ... so I would say that is alot and most cats would never come close

So 100 grams is more than a whole can of cat food. I wasnt' sure how many grams it was! Yeah, I think there's a very safe amount of tomato in there.
