My kittens are 1 week old today - and all doing very well.

I have read other posts and trying to figure out a plan for the near future...

I bought a huge kennel cage. We have 4 kittens. Until they are the 12 weeks and can be adopted, can we keep them in the kennel and bring them out for "playtime"? (I have read where others keep them in a "bedroom or bathroom" but honestly I just don't have the room for that.

My 2nd question is litter training - when can they do this? and I also read something about non-clumping litter..? Why?

Thanks!

You could move them into the crate but allow Momma to come and go - don't keep the door closed all the time. Litter training should happen when you introduce solid food, at about 3 to 4 weeks - and you shouldn't use clumping litter with kittens because they like to eat it. It clumps. You get the picture.

The only thing I would caution is to ensure that mom has no opportunity to get back outdoors...even accidentally. Allowing her to come and go out of the cage..but still be in an closed room is ideal.
