I'm so sad. Angel and Percy are outdoor cats. Both came to me as strays that someone dumped by our house. Angel was spayed and eartipped, so we believe she must have been the recipient of a TNR program. We figure she was about 2 years old.
Anyway, 4 days before we left, Angel wasn't there for breakfast. I know she has gone hunting and been gone for a couple of days at a time, so I was only minorly concerned at the time. She didn't come home before we left for NY, though. That's when I started to worry. My friend goes out to the house to feed them twice a day while we're gone, and I spoke to her on the phone today. Angel still hasn't come home, and we're going on almost 2 weeks now. I don't think she's going to make it back this time.
My poor little girl. She was the sweetest little baby, and it took me so long to get her to come to me!! I am just heartbroken, and Percy is missing her, too. I hope nothing bad happened to her, but I just don't know what to do. This is very hard, especially so soon after losing Sunni.
I'd appreciate some good vibes here. Maybe she just wandered too far this time during her hunting and she's working to get back home. I can't bear the thought of her being gone for good!
We get home Monday. I'll let you all know what happens. Thanks!

Oh, I hope she is just staying out of sight until you get home. I know how hard it is to lose these outside ferals. The not knowing can be very upsetting. I certainly hope she shows up, and you are posting good news about Angel soon! (I had an Angel, too!)

adding my {{{come home safely vibes}}}, too! Maybe when you get home, she'll feel like hanging around again. She may have sensed your excitement about going to NY and decided to lay low for awhile. I'm hoping & praying that she comes back soon!

I'm sorry to tell you all that Angel never came home. She's been gone for over 2 weeks now. Since I started taking care of her, she's never disappeared like this. This was my "hang around the house" kitty. Unfortunately, there are coyotes, wild dogs, etc. out here. I'm not going to think the worst, though.

Now Percy has disappeared as well. He has been gone since last Friday, my friend who was taking care of him says. What the heck is going on here? He likes to hunt further from the house sometimes, so he may be back.

I am going to guard poor little Sophie. Poor thing, she's going to have one heck of an over-protective mommy.

At the kitty's beck and call
Hopefully she just didn't fancy hanging around while you were not there and will turn up again once she notices you're back.

Sending lots of "come home" vibes for Angel and Percy.

It sounds like maybe the cats have found an alternate place to hang out - perhaps someone is setting out food or something. I had a cat named Felix who would come & go like that; finally he just went, and I saw him in the winter that year, looked good. And then I saw him in the yard this spring, but he ran off when I called to him.
I hope that Angel & Percy come back to you soon. The not knowing is brutal....
Hugs, Susan

I don't think anyone is hurting them. My closest neighbor is a mile away. I've never seen cats down there, but they have a huge yellow lab who has always been extremely gentle with Percy and Angel if he wanders down here.

Honestly, my biggest concerns are the coyotes and the cars. It's a rural area, and people seem to think that means no speed limit. We also get a lot of agricultural traffic out here.

All I can do is tell myself that I took the best care of them that I could for the past two years. Percy came to me out of a cornfield as a little, squalling baby (seriously, you could hear him coming for 5 minutes before he made it out of the field!), and Angel was a feral that adopted my heart. I'll miss them, but I guess this is the risk we take when we share our lives with strays and ferals. This is exactly why I prefer strictly indoor cats, though!

I'm so sorry to hear that about Angel but I'm sure she'll come back as pets usually find their way home. I'm sure she'll return in time. If she's not back when you return you can put flyers up around the area with her picture on it and maybe someone will find her. Does she have I.D. on her collar? I always have it on my cats and Taffy does for sure even though she doesn't go loose outside as I always have her on a leash and harness. She's also microchipped which is great as if a shelter picks her up then they can find the chip with a machine and it gives out all the information about her like where she lives etc.

I hope she comes home soon. My prayers are with you and hope Angel returns home.

Percy came home this morning, meowing his head off for his food, just like always. Angel is gone for good, I think.
