I know your all probably getting very tired hearing about Sahara, and I'm sorry, and I'll make this short!
I heard somewhere that Siamese cats are the only breed that pants(like a dog) Is this true? Well, I was wondering because after Sahara finished running after the lazer light, she panted for a short while. Her eyes kind of have a slight crossed look to them also. Could she have a trace of Siamese in her?

I've got two purebred Siamese.

Never saw either pant... but Mika's got a permanent case of the cross eyes! It nearly shocked me when I saw Holly, with her big round straight eyes... compared to him!

Thanks for the info! I had heard that from a lady sitting behind me at my daughter's cat show. A Siamese up on the show table was panting very heavily, and she was telling everyone around her that.

some of my kitties pant when they are very nervous, (like going to the vet) or when they play to hard. I am sure that so long they don't do it all the time, such as when rested or sleeping, it is notining to worry about.

I have 6 purebred siamese. I have NEVER seen any of them pant. Maybe traditional siamese do. I have all wedgeheads. One of my females occasionally forgets to put her tounge back into her mouth after grooming, but she is not panting.

Arlyn is right - ALL cats will pant if the circumstances are right for it; heat, stress, fear ... all are reasons why a cat may pant. But this is not something that is breed-specific to Siamese, either modern or Old-Style.

Thanks everyone...I thought that lady might have been crazy
I had never heard of that before, but I've never seen any of my cats pant either, so when I noticed Sahara panting it made me wonder.

PANTING-I HAVE FRIENDS WITH BARN CATS, HOUSE CATS, TORTIES, SIAMESE, PERSIANS, BURMESE, TABBIES AND YOU NAME IT AND I HAVE SEEN ALOT OF THEIR CATS BORN. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A MOMMA CAT (ANY BREED) THAT DOES NOT PANT WHEN THEY ARE IN LABOR. THAT I THINK SHOULD SETTLE WHAT BREED PANTS. IT IS OBVIOUS: ALL.
