Exactly. I wish we would have kept CJ and Billy current on vaccinations when they were younger. Right now, the kittens can't get their vaccinations... doesn't want to risk it.

Ok I am ALL for Spaying and neutering as EARLY as possible (Females as early as 2 pound but boys not till, I think, 4 months as some seem to have urinary incontinance later in life if neutered too soon) BUT vaccinations-----!

I have come to realize Vaccinations ARE necessary as I now have ONE cat in Quarentine and 3 others are on holistic immune boosting meds. BUT---- NOW days they (Vets) are admtting VAS is occuring more frequently then they said it was ( I just lost, my VAS girl! I know it is not supposed to spread but it appears it did in Corkie's case AND even if did not - to see her having to hop everywhere she went, due to her right hind leg being amputated because of VAS, and be unable to just trot or to jump up high, about killed me.)!

It is NOW being admitted VAS occurs in, at least, 1 in 3000 cats - and THIS is ONLY what has been PROVEN! In ALL ACTUALALITY it IS much HIGHER as not all Vets are reporting it and not all owners know what their cats have or report it. The vet who found the VAS in MY kitty girl did not report it and neither did the one who caused it.

Vaccinations CAN and SHOULD be intranasal, as VAS in the scruff or between the shoulder blades CAN and MOST always does cause cancerous tumors and death and in the leg ----! The leg CAn be amputated and thereby perhaps saving the cat's life but still I would rather do as I just did and drive wherever necessary to get the intranasal vacs. These ( or at least the upper respiratory one's) protect as good or better than the needle one's, BUT biggest problem with them is they ARE expensive as few vets give them due to the fact they have to buy a LOT of them and they do cause the cats to sneeze for about a week and owners do not like that!

I just had all 3 of my cats vaccinated intranasally due to my new one Panther coming down with the Calici virus. Soon I will be letting Panther out of isolation so I should be able to tell all of you how these shots work!

Some of you may know that I was suspecting Cerebellar Hypoplasia. I am not so much suspecting this now, because she seems to be getting worse. I'm thinking feline diabetes now.

I am posting this for prayers for Mirah. I ask and beg for no slamming that I can't get her to the vet now. I feel bad enough.

She has been to the vet, and he didn't really know.... I will get her there very soon... as soon as I possibly can. Right now, my mom hurt her back, so that's doctor bills, my brother's birthday was before this, and so money was put into that, and just so many things right now.... that's why I can't get her there now. Believe, I KNOW she needs to go.... and she will withing a week.

Please, please pray for her... I'm really worried, and I hope she will be okay.

Also, can you say a couple of prayers for my outside kitty, Biffy. I haven't seen him for a few days, and I'm worried about him, too. Usually, once a month, he'll disappear for a couple of days, and then comes back. But he's been gone a little longer than usual.

Just another thing to add worry.

Things in general just really stink right now, so every single prayer will be greatly appreciated! Thank-you!

So, Cassie, does Belle definitely have CH or does your vet still think there's a possiblity that it's just an infection?

My Forest is a CH kitty. His was most likely caused by his mother contracting the distemper virus while she was carrying him and his brother. (We don't really know for sure. The two of them had been dumped in a dumpster behind a pet store. The owner of the pet store took them to my vet, who rescued them.)

If it IS CH I can tell you from experience that Belle can lead a full, happy life despite her disability. With time she'll learn to compensate for her disability and do things you would never now think possible. When I first got Forest he could barely walk...most of the time he would drag his back feet behind him. Now he walks and runs and plays with no problem! In fact, he gets into everything. He can't jump up onto furniture, but he still tries his best to climb up there. CH kitties also tend to be very loving and adorable, and many of us who to live with one come to appreciate their special qualities.

If it is CH, there's lots you can do to help her out. I'm a member of a Yahoo group for people who have CH kitties. There are many people there who are incredibly knowledgable about CH. PM or e-mail me if you're interested and I'll give you the information. Also please feel free to PM or e-mail me if you have any questions or just want to talk about it. (I'll be out of town until Sunday night, but back after that.)

Belle has CH, but it's possible she has an infection of some sort ON TOP of it, making her disability worse. She's able to get up and walk around, but she's not out of the clear yet.... she still has some trouble. Around what age did your kitty start to get better where he was able to walk, eat, drink, and use the LB by himself?

We got Forest when he was 6 months old. He was able to use the litterbox (as long as the entrance was low so he could climb in), drink and eat (he's never had any trouble eating ...though he was REALLY messy at first), and he could kind of walk (but had a hard time keeping his back feet under him and ended up pulling himself around with his front legs a lot). His improvement was gradual, but, with exercise, by the time he was 9 months old he could walk well enough to climb the stairs in our new house. He's now about 1 year, 9 months, and people who haven't seen him in a while are AMAZED with his progress. From my discussion with other people with CH kitties, that's fairly typical. These guys are just bound and determined not to be slowed down.

Poor Belle!! It must be really hard on her...and you. We'll keep you both in our prayers, and give her a few hugs from me and some nose bumps from Forest.
