Greetings everyone. My first day at this site, so bear with me. I grew up with cats, but we kept them outside. I have had an indoor only cat for a couple of weeks now.
I had a friend who got two cats for her grandkids. I visited often and the calico would react with me. When my friend found out both cats were not the best with children, she gave me the calico, or Callie. Callie adapted to the move in about 2 hours, much faster than the cat I babysit twice a year. She has been very affectionate.
But when it came time for me to give her Frontline on her neck, I swear she saw me looking at it from across the room and started running. I hunted her down in her three favorite hiding places, the last of which was a closet she had to come back past me to get out of.
She would not come near me and hid most of the time for three days. My friend said she also acted like she did not like the medicine when she had her. My question is, is there something about the medication that is causing her irritation or pain, or do I just have to get used to a cat that basically has PMS every month? I am switching to Revolution after the next application, the last of Frontline.
Another girlfriend told me to hide the medicine next time and just apply it while petting her to see if it is something physical or just a battle of wills. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks in advance. Florena
