Hello,
My name is Angel and my hubby and I had adopted Bosley several weeks ago from petco. He looks healthy and acts healthy but I am worried about him because ever since we've gotton him he's been sneezing a couple times a day and now once in a while, I'll notice milky colored mucus or somedays its regular looking diarreah comming out of his backside. I thought that maybe the diarreah was normal b/c he is a baby, but the mucus looking kind has a very bad smell. The day before yesterday I gave him cows milk, I decided to not give him it again, so that I can see if it is the milk causeing this thinking that maybe its the milk that is just now passing. I have to chase him around the house to clean him off. Its gross.
Does anyone else have this problem? If not can you please tell me what you think may be the problem...on his chart it says that he has been tested negative for FeLV. He has been nuetered and has had his first shots. I don't think that he has been wormed. He is an inside cat. Thankyou lots. ~Angel~ P.s I will submit pics for all of you to see in the pics forum, titled Bosley if any of you would like to see him.

cats shouldnt be given cow's milk. most are lactose intolerant and will get diarrhea.

1) Definitely STOP giving kitty cow's milk, or any other kind of milk for that matter
2) Please take kitty to the vet ASAP to rule out any potentially SERIOUS health issues. Though many of us on the board have a lot of experience with cats and cat health issues, only your vet can truly determine what is wrong with kitty after examining him.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I've already tooken him off of the cows milk. I told my hubby not to feed him any cows milk either. So far I've only seen the mucus looking poop close to the time he's had milk, so I'm gonna see if he gets any better within a day or two. So far today he hasn't had anymore, so I'll keep on praying. If I don't notice a differance, I will take him to the vet. sorry about the pics, I'm having trouble with my computer, I will post them another time. Thanks ~Angel~

If I were you I would take him into the vet anyway just to be sure. A few months ago my fiance and I found a small kitten in the middle of a busy street. He nearly got run over several times. We managed to get him out of the street and dry him off. It had been raining for the last few days before that and he was sneezing. We took him to our vet and he checked out healthy so we desided to keep the little guy. He was fittingly named "Lucky" and seemed to be fine the first few nights other than being a little hissy around our other animals. The next few days he became very ill meowing constantly and having loose mucusy stools uncontrolably. We figured at first it was him adjusting to the food but it continually got worse. By the time we took him to the vet it was a continual poop that never ended. He passed away 7 hours after we took him in even after the vet tried everything he could to hydrate the little fella. He pooped himself to death really. After that I call the vet if there is any sort of loose stool with any of our animals.

I dont want to scare you in any way but I just wanted you to be safe and if something is wrong find out before its too late!

RIP little Lucky!

If you still want to give him "milk" as a treat, you can try cat milk. I got mine at Petsmart, and my kitties love it. Make sure you get milk especially made for cats. Just give them a little bit at a time as a treat.
