Well, my baby is still sickly...thankfully though, the coughing and gagging has stopped almost completely and he's drinking more...but he's still not eating very much. He's lethargic still, but his congestion and drooling has lessened but is still present. His little nose is a lot less chapped, though. I just wish he would get over this and I could stop worrying about him!

Poor thing! If he's not over the virus in 7 days, I'm supposed to bring him back, so he's got a few more days before we go back for different meds
The bloodwork showed that there's nothing bacterial or majorly wrong with him, but these symptoms seem to be QUITE stubborn...

Thanks for listening, my wonderful fellow TCSers! It means a lot of have somewhere to go where people understand being worried about my under-the-weather kitty

Poor Leo. I'm sending good health vibes. L-lysine might be worth a try. It interferes with the replication of viruses. 500 mg per day might help. At least it couldn't hurt because it is an amino acid. You can buy capsules, break them open and mix it in a serving of wet cat food.

My kitty has the feline herpes virus. It took about a week to see an improvement with l-lysine, but she has been symptom free for the past few months. I figure if l-lysine interferes with viral replication, then it can help fight the virus that's afflicting your kitty.

Thanks! Do I get that from the vet then?

I know nothing about feline herpes, but I've always been curious...what is it exactly? How do kits get it? I mean, if Leo had it (which I don't think he does, since he had a 3-way in June) the blood tests would have shown that, so I'm not freaking out about that (but I really want him better!!!) but we have a Herpes room at the shelter and I've always wondered what that was all about.

Also, sharky, thanks for your kind words
