Osiyo and hello all!
This is my first post on this forum, and it is a strange one!!!
Is it possible for a kitten to be lactating? We have 3 eight-week-old kittens, and last week two of the kitties started "nursing" on the other. She even tries to nurse on herself sometimes!! They will nurse for 20 + minutes at a time, and it's started to creep us out a little... She has the most "pronounced" nipples of all her sisters, but could she actually be lactating?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as we are beyond lost...

Wa-do!

No she is not lactating, she is suckling and if possible you need to stop her. It can lead to some trouble if you aren't careful. Buy a bottle of bitter apple and start applying it to the places being suckled and give her a stuffed animal that she can suck on instead- beanie babies are good- or fill a sock up with minute rice, tie it off and give her that to suckle

Thank you for adding some sanity to this wondering of mine. It just didn't seem right to think that it was possible. The minute rice idea seems like a great idea, I'll try that right away. Thanks for the help!!!
