Hello,

I know, I've read all the aggressive behaviour posts ut at the top of this page. But her biting isn't really aggressive, maybe a little bit, but I do want her to stop.

Here is the thing, my cat either doesn't trust me or only wants to be petted at certain times. When she is sleepy or cuddly, she is wonderful, I can pet her forever and she'll just purr, bump her head against mine and lean on my arm or leg and just snuggle up like that. Also, every time I come home she'll run up to me and great me with meows, so I pick her up, pet her a little bit and let her go.

However, that only happens some time of the day, for the most part, she is unaproachable. As soon as I put my hand anywhere near her head, she'll either try to bite me or runs away as if she doesn't trust my hands. I use those times as a time to play.

That's all fine and good. But my main complain is, whenever I try to do something she doesn't want, she bites me. Especially when I try to trim her claws or brush her, clean her or do general things you need to maintain your cat's grooming and health care. I can never do that right because she bites right away when I touch her whenever she is not sleepy. I did try to get her to stop by saying "no", that only makes her run for it instead of biting.

I've read enough cat articles to know that she only bites me because she knows it'll make me remove my hands and that's exactly what she wants. It doesn't really hurt yet, but I'd like her to stop before she gets further. I don't want her to think that biting is the answer. Sometimes you need to do things to your cat, and you need to handle them, for instance when some crap gets stuck to their leg and you need to remove it. I can't just wait untill she's in a sleepy mood. And even then, she wakes up really fast whenever I try to groom her and resorts to her biting/running away thing.

If it is absolutely necessary to handle her and she is uncooperative, you have no choice but to restrain her. In other times, let her decide when she wants to be petted.
By the way, how does she behave at the vet?

Scared, but my vet has no complaints. He actually says she's one of the easy cats to handle. But she is known to be more open to strangers than me at home. Thanks for your reply.
