Maybe it is just in I.M.O?

There are a ton of threads which include polls that someone is voting on and bumping them up....These threads are 2-3 years old...
After reading my 4th or 5th and becoming confused, I realized the dates...

Anyway, fess up..who is doing it??

I KNOW what u mean! I got creeped out a couple months ago when I got notification of a new post to a thread I had posted over FIVE YEARS AGO about Sunniday (RB now for 4 yrs
) and since then, I have noticed some old threads of mine being brought back so I'd love to know too!

One way to figure it out is to look at the poster and the date that person has posted it. U can figure out who resurrected the thread..

Well, the best candidate I found is Agent_Haun, although I'm sure there may some others who may have been on archaeological digs!

Not accusing of course, just curious.

Is it a bad thing to add to a thread that is a few years old? I know I have done searches and found useful information in them and have added to them. I assumed it was better to add to a thread if the topic is relevant to your current situation rather than to have 100 threads about "What's the best food". That's just my opinion.

Of course not
, but it is a bit of a shock to the original poster to be getting notifications (assuming that's how s/he has it set up) of answers to a question that may have been posted years before!

At first I was wondering how so many posts appeared overnight
and then I realized ... OK, you got me - whoever it was.

As Loveysmummy pointed out in IMO, it could be someone just voting on the thread.

After thinking about it, polls are only good for a certain time frame. If a poll is 2 years old, the TCS membership lkely has changed to some degree and the individuals's who did vote may have changed their opinon too.

I enjoyed reading the old threads too. You're right too that opinions can change. Its interesting to see that as well.

Nope, not a bad thing at all.
That's a large part of the reason that we keep all of the previous threads in the archives and available to members so they can search for pertinent information that they are looking for, and perhaps find the answer faster than if they had posted a new thread especially for cat health & behavior issues.

But it is a bit, um...
(the best description for my reaction) when a thread asking if Bush should be re-elected is drudged up almost a year after the election. The point, in that case, is completely moot, so there's no reason to rehash that topic.

I thought a lot of our threads were erased because of the down time back in December? Now, I am really confused...

Only the ones between June and December were lost

Yeah, I saw that and thought ::censor::censor::censor:: Then I thought perhaps it was supposed to be a hypothetical question, as if the president was still allowed more than just the two terms in office.

Particularly when its against the law for him to be re-elected.

Anyway, I use a lot the archived threads. When I started looking for a car to buy (as you remember, I even asked what cars do you suggest), I thought to make a thread asking people what cars do they own already to get an idea what people around here were driving. Instead, I remembered there were hundreds of threads about it and started checking out a few old ones. I also did that one trying to find recipes for cocktail drinks.

Nooooooooooooo...
Not all of us can get online everyday. Besides some of the old threads are worth digging up. TCS has new members everyday. Ressurecting a thread rather than starting a new one can help us avoid repeating ourselves.

I just learned it was me! Well, Kind of. Let me explain:

I'm always logged in, so I can just pop in any time. Well, my little sister decided she wanted to check out the site. She just told me she did a forum search for polls, and voted on any she could! Little brat!

Please don't hate me! I'll log out from now on.
