My sweet little girl had surgery last week. (4th) She seemed OK on 5th and 6th. Sore and tired and not eating much (only some tuna). She would drink tuna juice or milk. Now she is not eating or drinking; I am following vet's instructions to syringe feed her Hills a/d.
I'm very worried. She doesn't like being force fed. I can't tell if she is more lethargic because I was told to keep her quite in her box (except to go to the litter box) and yesterday when she left the box after a pee she went under the bed and wouldn't come out.
Advice thoughts and PRAYERS would be appreciated ASAP

I would go back to the vet asap. When my cat hides like that he is VERY sick.

Keep us posted.

What surgery did she have? Does she have a fever? Why are you feeding her milk? That usually will bind a cat up. Have you tried warming her food up, giving her a pinch of catnip to stimulate her appetite? Talked to the vet about appetite stimulants? When they hide like that, they are ill and they just want peace and quiet. I would drape her box with a dark cloth and make her a cave and give her plenty of air space to breathe. I would also call your vet and let them know what is going on and if she is running a fever or becoming dehydrated, get her in pronto to be seen

She had a lumpectomy.
She developed a fever since last night.
Milk is a treat that she likes and she refused water but drank the milk and tuna juice. Her usual food is dry; she hates canned food. When she was a kitten she lived outide a day care and she ate whatever she could catch and whatever the little children would share with her.She will eat some chicken or liver and tuna fish usually.
She was improving Sat and Sunday; out laying on the shelf or in the window. When She went under the bed on Monday AM after using the litter box. She hides when she sees me move a cat crate. (At motels she always hides and last week when she heard me say I was taking her to the vet she jumped off the piano and went under the recliner.)
I gave her water as well as the a/d by syringe.
She is at the vet now with a fever of 103.

Oh I am so sorry, sounds like she might have picked up an infection. I can tell you love her a lot and I thank you for rescuing her and caring for her like you have. I hope she pulls through, will you keep us posted? Also, are you giving her meds? They hide when they are on meds, no one likes taking medicine.

She didn't like being fed with a syringe.

The biopsy report is back and it is negative!! The vet thought it was cancer and when I researched it and found 90% of mammary tumors in cats are cancer I had Callie prayed for (check out prayerforpets if you don't already know about it).

Callie was in the hospital 4 days and that was more expensive than the surgery.

Thank God she is running around happy again.

Thank all who prayed for her.

She is going to get her stitches out today (Friday 8/19).

Good to hear she is feeling better
you may want to try something they sell at Pet stores, its called Cat Milk, or Cat sip. a few diffrent brands make it. It will be easier for her system than milk
and its a tasty treat! Mine get it once in a while!
