Hi all, I am Lisa with Midwest Friends of ANimals, Inc in southern INdiana.
WE are a non-profit with no paid employees. Just a bunch of volunteers trying to save lives.

We are in a a bind and hoping to find support from other cat lovers.
A nearby cat rescue has closed down and to keep her cats from being euthanized, we are willing to take on her buildings and cats on our group. But we are begging for any minor donation anyone could make. The building will be moved, set up, then we have to allow for heating and cooling costs, food , litter and vet costs. EVery dime will help. You can see our work and our paypal info on our site at MidwestAnimals.petfinder.com.

THanks!!!!!! If we get this off the ground we will be able to help so many more animals!!!!!!
Lisa

I wish you good luck..Sorry, but I already donate to our local shelter and that isn't even in my poverty line budget..

I hope you get things off the ground...You are a saint.

Don't apologize, we all do what we can and I commend you for supporting your local shelter!! We actually started out our group intending it to be a 'friends of the shelter' in our area too. Sadly, as it seems in many cases I now here about, our shelter had no interest in improving things or the lowering the 85% euth rate there and went so far as to ask us NOT to come back and help them! We tried hard to help them anyway and got their petfinder site up and running. They have a new board pres here now who hopefully will continue and does want to make things better so that is something!
Sometimes changes take longer then we'd like..and I am certainly not a patient person by nature! Not when it comes to little lives! (ug...to make matters worse, I found out the shelter here SELLS the euthanized cat bodies to places that sell them to places that want to dissect them! That just doesn't seem right to me, but I guess they are desperate for money..like we all are).

Can I post some pics of our emerging care facility? Up until now we have only been able to use foster homes (And I am pretty much the only one willing to foster cats in our area) so even though this is very modest, it is a godsend.
The former owner had done a phenomenal job finishing off the inside fully, filling it with toys, tree's lofts and beds..even a t.v. and vcr with a 'cat sitter' video and access to outdoor runs. It is also heated and has an A/c unit for the worst summer days. We took this building and 14 cats and she kept another building and some cats she would like to stay with her there as 'retirement home'.

There are two large kennels outside the kitty doors and I am open to suggestions for fun things to put out there for them. Does anyone happen to know the best way to make one of those cat hammock things?
