I'm mulling over which way to go for a litter box for my new arrivals within the next couple of weeks or so. I already have a Kat Kit litter box. It's a disposable tray type thing with litter already in it. You pull up a kind of paper cover to expose the litter underneath.

Later I want to get a covered litter box with a top filter. That of course is when they're big enough to hop in.

Could someone give me some ideas on how to get through the first few months?

How old will they be when they come home with you? I got Polly when she was 11 weeks and weighed 2 lbs, and she had no trouble at all hopping right into a covered box.

I like the Booda Dome. In fact, I wish both my boxes were Booda Domes.

If they're really little when you get them, you could buy a dish pan and cut down the sides to make it smaller. One of those disposable metal lasagna pans might work too. Never tried it though.

I would think the sound of the metal pan might scare them (just thought of the trick of using tin foil to deter cats from being on certain areas)... but at the shelter, we used to use cardboard flats that you get cans of soda in for disposable litter pans - you can also usually find something suitable to be used as a potty box at dollar stores... I would definitely go with a covered box once they're big enough though - seriously cuts down on litter being thrown out of the box and the smell.... Oliver's a big litter kicker and now I rarely have to sweep his cat room for litter.... good luck and congrats with the new babies!
