After observing the interaction between Penguin and Esse, especially after I've been lovin on Esse and she's rumbling like an 18 wheeler, I got to thinking (which is, of course, dangerous...
)

Do cats excrete a "happy" or "wow this feels great!" pheremone or scent from their jowl pads (or anywhere else, for that matter) when they're happy?

'Course, maybe I'm off base, but I think they do. Some sort of scent that's different from "it's safe" scent, or the "danger" scent, or whatever. Something that cats equate to happiness and comfort, perhaps, or maybe something like the scent of joy.

Dunno, just thinking out loud. But does anyone know? And do your cats do the same sort of thing (especially the ferals as they're being integrated into an existing family)?

Best-
Michele
