Although i am happy to have the Olympics here, I am also a little crazy. A woman who works for the Department of Workforce Services(welfare) informed us that alot is going to be changing. The bus routes are going to in different routes. All the taxis will be unavailable to the general public because they will be leased to the visitors of the Olympics. Tenenants are being given 15-day notices to vacate their apartments so that the rooms will be available to the Olympics. If you need to go to the doctor, to call 911 and have the ambulance take you. Officials request that people living in or around the downtown area should be in their homes by two in the afternoon. This is bad for me because, even though the school will be closed for two weeks, I do have to go to work or find a new job. I have to go through downtown to go anywhere. If you work at the airport during the Olympics, they say that its going to be a madhouse. They say might as well sleep there(I know a man who works at the airport. I feel sorry for him!)
As for the promise to send a picture of the Medal's Plaza, let me correct it. A postcard is more likely since to get anywhere near there, you need a permit. The security will be real tight. I just found out that President Bush will be in town in February. Unfortunatley, I won't be able to shake his hand as there will be members of Secret Service and The FBI guarding him.
So its going to be messy. Anyone who had the Olympics in the past, please tell me how to deal with this and survive it!
