Just got my cat's second set of rabies/distemper shots. The first year she was lethargic for a day or so. This time...we're into the second day and she's still hiding under the bed. She'll eat if I put food in my hand and put it under the bed. Should I be concerned??? Any help??? Please???

To prevent this from happening again in the future, space the shots out - allow about 2 to 3 weeks between the panleukpenia and rabies vaccines so you can 1) find out which vaccine caused the reaction so you can weigh the benefits of the vaccine against the risk of vaccination and 2) lessen the severity of the reaction.

For now, let her hide and regroup. Unless she isn't eating, drinking, pooping or peeing normally, the chances are very good she will recover on her own and be fine.

Thanks for the quick advice. I'll give her more time before I bother her again. She's an indoor cat ... and except for a few mice she's caught in the basement... isn't exposed to much. Maybe she doesn't need either shot??

Michelle, as a breeder, I vaccinate my cats and I strongly encourage my kitten buyers to vaccinate the kittens. However, I think this is a decision you must make after doing all of the research and speaking candidly with your vet about the topic. There are some vaccines which are IMO suspicious/counterindicated and I don't recommend them nor do I vaccinate my own cats with them.
