I'm amazed at how many of you live so close to water - it's wonderful isn't it? I would be very unhappy, I think, living somewhere where there were no beaches or rivers or lakes.

Susan that photo of the Tyne Bridge is uncannily like the Sydney Harbour Bridge in New South Wales...here's a pic

Where my cats are
I don't think I have any pictures of Dover itself. (Delaware) We have lots of colonial homes in the area. I drive down brick streets every day on my way to work and through 'The Green' where all the courthouses and things are. I was told that executions also took place there. It kind of makes all the tall trees there a little.....spooky I guess is the word. Lots of local historians are haivng a fit because a contractor illegally knocked down 3 historic houses at the edge of the historic district. He only has to pay something like $68,000 too! He wants to put up an office building. The space isn't even big enough! I'm also a short drive to the beaches. We have lots of marshes and things also. The sky here is very dramatic at times. Especially if you drive out into the farm areas during lightning storms. One night there was one on the way to a friends and the lightning was like spider webs across the sky. It mezmerised me!

My hometown in NY is beautiful also. It's situated in a valley and is just a short drive to the Adirondacks. My husband and I want to hike up there in the fall when the leaves turn so I'll be sure to post some pics of that then. Also his hometown in TN is beautiful. It's situated in the mountains so there is scenery everywhere you look. They also have a historic town with beautiful buildings. The only pics I have of these places aren't digital so I'd have to scan them and it's a little late for that. But I wanted to share anyway! (Maybe tomorrow if I get motivated!)

Well, since we all know what Chicago looks like on a postcard, I thought I'd put in some pictures of the neighborhood I call home:

I live in Lincoln Park, a large neighborhood on Chicago's north side. We're just south of Wrigleyville, where the loveable losers...I mean, Cubs...play

This is the skyline from my neighborhood...this was taken at the Lakefront path and Fullerton Pkwy

Lake Michigan, from the park

We really do have trees in the city!

Another shot in the park

Clark St. at Diversey...this is one of my favorite places to shop and see movies

This is the cross-street from where I live...LP is known for beautiful houses

The skyline from the path at North Ave..I took this on a jog one day

Kind of a messed up pic of downtown from the Chicago Ave brown line El platform

The McCormick Row houses...so pretty!!

My cousin lives in Lincoln Park!! She used to live in Battery Park in NY until her building collapsed during 9/11. They lost everything and had to start again, and decided to do so in another city.

katspixiedust -- I was just in Ormond last week.

I don't have any pics of where I live right now.. will have to put my digital camera to use.

You can always read about Trenton in Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books!

Holy cow that's crazy! Ormond Beach isn't exactly what you'd call big by any means, and SO many people from Florida even don't have a clue where it is! That's so fun that you were just there. I spent my first 18 years there, and still try to go home as much as possible!

I used to go there a lot when I lived in Florida. My friend's grandmother lived right near the beach. We drove through there and stopped on Daytona Beach.

All I knew was that the city was named for James Ormond, so I googled the history and here's a snippet of what I found: "North of the Anderson's (Cobbâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s Corner) and Dumettes was the "Damietta," the cotton and indigo plantation of the Ormond family. Captain James Ormond I received a 2,000 acre land grant for his Damietta Plantation. Ormond was killed in 1817 by a runaway slave and the family moved back to Scotland."

So, it looks like there's a definite possible connection!

Wow that's awesome. It's always nice to find people who know where the heck you're talking about!

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about everything your cousin had to go through...LP is a wonderful place, so I certainly hope her new life in Chicago has been happy

Wow how cool! I'm going to ask him about that - maybe he knows more. That's very interesting news

Mount Timpanogos in the Spring

Bridal Veil Falls (about 10 minutes from my house) in the Summer

Utah Desert in the Spring

Northern Wasatch Front

Autumn in Provo Canyon (about 10 minutes from me)

And No Utah photo tour would be complete without throwing one of these in

I've posted at least some of these in other threads...

These are taken in our back yard...

These are from last spring at blossom time...

Downtown...

On our street...

In Chinatown is the Dr Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden...

This is taken from my office window on the UBC campus...

This beach is about 5 minutes from my office. The tide is high...

This park is a little farther, maybe ten minutes...

I'll continue in the next post

One of my favourite spots is Granville Island...

...home of the Granville Island Public market...

...an entertainer in the square...

...and the downtown peninsula across False Creek...

And I have to show you this one. It's not Vancouver, but it's very much part of where I live -- one of my favourite shots, taken on the ferry between the mainland and Vancouver Island...
