Since becoming a member of this site I am always so fascinated by the amount of great people I get to talk to, from all over the world, who I would never normally meet otherwise (well, probably not, anyway!). I often look at the place names of where you live and wonder what they are like.

They other day I looked up Emerald Isle (home of Dawnofsierra) on the net because it sounded like such a pretty place. And it is! What a lovely beachy port town it looks like. So I thought I'd start a thread to post some pictures of where we live and parts of it we are especially proud of. Hope this is ok in the Lounge and not Fur Pictures Only!!

Here is the view of Perth from King's Park - as you can see we have a tiny city but I think it is breathtaking.

And this is a sunset photo over the beach - I live a three minute walk from here...

Perth looks gorgeous!

I will have to go wandering with my digital camera soon, and post some photos of the town!

Wow - I love the third pony one! Awwww.

I always thought the south of Victoria looks a lot like England - kind of cold, serene beauty. Those photos are lovely.

It is very calm, but that also makes it a perfect retirement place! When you go for a drive, you have to avoid ponies and old age pensioners

I live in a little town called Gloucester, in Virginia. Here are some pictures from their website:

This is Abingdon Church, it was built in the 1600's and this is the original building:

This is a house in the courthouse area:

This is Gloucester Point Beach <-----

This is the actual
Gloucester Court house I have been in there,
and it looks pretty modern
on theinside, as opposed to
the old fashioned look on
the outside!

City beach is lovely - it's about five minutes from the hospital I work at. Bit pricey, though - not everyone can afford to live there! Lol...

We have now just moved to Mount Hawthorn, which is more inner city - and a bit strange for me as I have ALWAYS lived near the beach since I was a little kid. But my best friend constantly raves about Canada and wanting to return there - she just loved it. I'd love to go, especially to the East coast.

Here are some pics of my hometown

there are alot of float planes here, because we are one of the last communities up here with roads. So we have planes to deliver food and supplies to the northern communities

here is a view of our backyard

This is a great idea for a thread!
I love seeing where everyone's from. You all live in some beautiful places!

I googled my hometown of Ormond Beach (which I absolutely love to pieces) and here are some photos:

Here's the Granada beach approach. It's the only approach in Ormond that you can drive your car onto. The rest is walk up only and you have to go to Daytona Beach (just south of us) to drive on at any other approaches. I much prefer to NOT drive on the beach!

Here's a shot of our beach from a condo:

Ormond Beach is a much quieter beach than Daytona. There are some tourists at the beach but they mainly stay in Daytona, leaving Ormond's beaches mostly to the locals. Another great shot of the beach:

This is The Casements. It was Rockefeller's winter home and is now a historic site and home to many art classes. I took ballet here for a while:

A shot of Ormond Memorial Gardens. My brother actually got married in these gardens about 3 years ago.
There's a beautiful path through the garden with lovely gazebos throughout. The garden is right next to the Ormond Art Museum:

And this last shot is of a (now finished) home along the beach. It's ridiculous in size and everytime I go to the beach I'm always amazed at the amount of money these people throw out just to live along the shore:

So that's Ormond Beach, the town that I grew up in and still love more than anyplace! I'm so very proud of my hometown, if you can't tell.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
This is the Tyne Bridge, and if you've been away on holiday and see this when you come back you know your home.

This is the beach which is 15 minutes from where i live.

And this is the river at the bottom of my street that runs into the sea on the picture above.
