Looking good Amy! Can't wait to see it when it's all completed! Love the last pic of your darlings as well, it's too cute!

You actually got me thinking about adding a small, easy to take care of fish to the apartment for Waffle and Coco to enjoy. Tiff and I discussed it and were thinking of maybe just a little tetra or something. See Amy, youre an inspiration!

Thanks Kelly and Katherine

The anchor should prove to be very neat. Seahorses like to wrap their tails around stuff, so the anchor is a very good structure for that. And....I think we're going to add seahorses within the next month!
We need to make sure the cycling is 100% done and maybe add a clownfish or two first, maybe some more live rock...then it's seahorse time!!! I'm so excited.

Katherine, I bet Waffle and Coco would LOVE a fishie! I've had really good luck with bettas from Wal Mart. Every one I've ever bought has lived at least 3 years! To keep it out of reach of the kitties (and to add a bit of flavor to your decor), you can buy a glass sconce from Wal Mart or Pier 1 or something and hang it high on the wall. Bettas are solitary fish, so one fits in a sconce nicely

We added this little gem on Friday. He's called a Blood Red Fire Shrimp and this is the best picture I could get of him (he found a piece of rock that he likes to hide in and we hardly ever see him. I was so excited to finally add a blood shrimp to the aquarium!

Thanks Katherine
He is the coolest thing. He's actually quite small, only about 2" long (he'll get about 1-2" larger and his antennae will get really long).

He is the BIGGEST fraidy cat though!

We were waiting to see if he'd make it 48 hours (which he did!) before naming him. So now we need a good name for him. I'm leaning towards Fang (since he's a blood shrimp? Get it? Ha) but if anyone has any good suggestions, I'm all ears!

Great to see things coming along so well Amy! Love the new addition, I've always admired the little shrimps in our local pet shop. Can't wait to see the clownfish if you add it, I've always loved them too!

Clare- I REALLY wanted to get clownfish and the dragonet yesterday!!!
Unfortunately (and he's right) Bradley said we need to space things out when we add fish so we don't disrupt the balance in the tank. So hopefully we'll get some little Nemos this coming weekend!

that looks so cute!
My mother didnt end up buying the aquarium because she was scared it was going to break...
So she gave me money for it but i told her that there was no point giving me money as ben will never take me to the store to buy it.
And they dont deliver so.. maybe another time when i get my license

Aw Fran, I'm sorry things didn't work out with getting the aquarium
It is definitely not wise to invest in one, though, until you have a LOT of time and a LOT of money to put into it!

Rhonda, scroll up to post #65. Do you see the shrimp now?

So I get home yesterday and Bradley tells me (in his most serious voice) that he has some very bad news.

He leads me over to the aquarium and first thing I see is this clear red shrimp shell. My first thought is, "Oh no! Fang (that's what we named our blood shrimp) is dead!" But then I realized that it is JUST his exoskeleton- he molted!!

It's so cool that he's grown that much in just a week (he was the smallest one at the store when I bought him last week; we wanted a young'un); he's thriving in our aquarium and that is so exciting!

Hopefully this weekend we'll be adding our first clownfish!!!

Hehe, thanks, we like the name too
. I thought "blood shrimp"..."Fang"....to perfect! Too bad he's a wuss that won't live up to his name!

Denise, I will post pics of the clownfish as soon as we add it/them (we may get 2 at the same time). I also think, if all continues well, we'll be adding our seahorsies within a month!!!

Hehe, thought about that but I figured that's what people are expecting these days, so I'll have to do something different. The name will depend on his personality (sort of how we chose Rocket's name). I will say, however, that I think we're definitely going to name our seahorses Seabiscuit and Smarty Jones (after last year's Kentucky Derby winner).
