My cat, Sheba, who I have always treated more like my daughter than a pet had 4 kittens, her first litter April 28th.For awhile it seemed that they were all healthy but now there are 2 problems. The kittens are over 13 weeks and still nursing. They have been eating for quite awhile now, but she still lets them nurse.I have tried to put out milk for them hoping they would quit nursing but it hasn't helped.
The other problem, is one of the kittens, we named her Misty, refuses to eat like the others do and we have thought this may be a reason for Sheba still nursing the others. Misty will eat human food or cat treats but not any kind of cat food. When it is feeding time the others will start eating and she just sits there and meows. Also the other kittens don't have much to do with her and it is really sad but we don't know what to do for her.
If anyone can offer any suggestions I would really appreciate it.Thanks.
Cheryl

Seperate the kittens from the mother to stop them from nursing.

For the one who won't eat kitten food, stop offering her human food and treats, she will eventually realize she is hungry and figure out what she should be eating. You can feed them wet kitten food. Slowly add dry food to that and eventually you can switch her over to dry food permenently.

Don't ever give cats or kittens milk. They are lactose intolerant and cannot handle milk. They make milk specifically for cats that you can buy at the store.

I agree - first and most important suggestion is to spay mom and all kits right away. The kittens are big enough.
