My kitty losses are my three cats that I had in 2003 and 2004. I adopted a lively ginger male tabby cat named Leo in 2002 and he was great and my other cat Max who was 14 got along great with him after a while. In April 2003 I got a message from my mom that our neighbour's son brought the remains of my dear kitten as he got hit by a car on the highway in our town. It was so hard for me and I cried. Even my other cat Max felt the loss.
I got another cat from my dad's friend in August 2003 and he was a black cat with a white spot on his head and his name was Louie. He was so affectionate and after he got settled in he got used to my other cat Max and became good buddies. Then a neighbour called me in June 2004 and told me that Louie was on the same highway and was hit by a car. I was even more devastated by losing two cats on the same highway.
I decided to just keep my one cat Max who was 14 and I've had him since he was 5 years old. In early July 2004 I noticed that Max was drinking lots of water and his diet was decreasing so I got him into the vet. They did various tests and figured it might be diabetes and I was very concerned and then the vet called me and told me that Max had kidney failure. I decided to put him to sleep as it was the kindest thing to do for him. I didn't want him to suffer anymore. I got off the phone and cried alot and took him to the vet and they put him to sleep.
It is very hard to lose three cats in a year but I know these things happen and time does heal the pain. In August of 2004 I adopted my sweet Taffy and I am very happy that she is part of my life and I keep her on a leash and harness so she will never get killed by a car. Prevention is #1 to me.
That's my sad stories and for all who have lost a cat in the past just remember that they are always with you spiritually. I know mine are and are always in my heart even when I have my Taffy with me. All cats are special in their own way and we should cherish them while they are with us and always remember them when they have left us. God loves them I know that.
