$60 eh? If I can find a yard of the fabric somewhere, or better, get a small remnant of sisal carpeting, I can make that thing out of scraps I've got laying around. Hmmmm, it's an idea ...

I don't know what it is about my 2 cats but they won't use any scratching posts! We've tried various sizes, kinds (carpet, cardboard, twine, etc). Then finally Tigger got excited about an old carpet that we laid in the corner one day (it was heading for the garbage bin). It was rolled up, and upside down so the bottom of the carpet was accessible... she loved it so we kept it. And the new kitty likes it too. They're fussy but we finally have something they like. Guess I didn't need to spend $ on 5 different kinds of scratching posts!

That is so typical cat behavior. Buy them expensive toys and they latch onto the most simple things like milk jug lids.

I bought this 30" sisal fabric scratching post from a seller on Ebay for $40 (includes shipping). The seller also has a website Sisal Rugs Direct but the posts seem to be more expensive there. Both of my cats have a NEED to scratch it just about every time they walk by it!!

Hey, that's pretty. I like the black color! I think I'll get one. Thanks for posting the link.

I bought a purrfect post and she loves it! She used it 3 times in the first half hour. I recommend it.

I can find a cat tree that has levels, handmade, good quality for 60$. My cats don't just scratch on posts, they like to be able to lounge too.

Purrfect post is amazing.  I have several, and also purchased their large post with a little bed ontop. My cats love scratching them and don't scratch furniture because the prefer the post!!  I think it is the best on the market.  Don't hesitate.  It is not just a scratching post, it is also helps them exercise, not only by scratching, but by climbing up the post.
